Pretty bird. I have been working in Alaska where they have many Magpies. Its the only place I have seen them. I normally wouldn't care for the busy background, but it works in this case, as it is interesting to see what he is eating. Nice work.

I know that birds are rarely cooperative models but whenever possible it is best if you can shoot closer to eye level. I am slightly prejudiced against shooting birds on the ground but this setting is quite nice and the detail in his eye is excellent.

Thanks Mike, think if I got down to his level may not have been able to get up again as my back is decidedly an issue at the moment - more physio this week so should improve and be able to get low again soon :) mARY
