The moon was such a treasure that evening. I was out and didn't have my camera. I like that you didn't center the moon in the photo. How long was your exposure? I haven't done much night photography. I need to get out there while it is cool to get some pics.

Thank you. I think it was 1/30 of a second with aperture priority setting. The moon was very brilliant and so some heavy contrast adjustments were needed in post. Also use lens effects to reduce UV haze

OUTSTANDING,Mary Eileen!
Much to the discouragement of the Coven it was too cloudy 'around these parts' to observe the Full Moon during the Alban Heruin celebrations the other night.
SO,it's really great to check out this beautiful image of Her that you've provided us with,my friend!
'Blessed Be',my Sister! : )

Thank you so much for your generous rating. Here in NE PA we had absolutely cloudless sky.

Here in northeastern NY we ended up having a wild thunderstorm! :)

I'm jealous. I am on a business trip and didn't get to shoot this moon. I think you nailed the aperture and exposure. Very sharp. Would like for the moon to be bigger, but you got it. Thank you for sharing.

A nicely composed "moon shot". The exposure is very good and the details in the moon are outstanding. Best of luck in the contest.

a brilliant presented photo of the moon...an absolute gem of an image, with a great structure slightly off centre that works beautifully, almost giving it movement. The effect is fantastic against the sheer blackness ...i give you a six for this

Your Strawberry Moon is marvelous Meg. Do you know it will be a full 76 years before we have the Strawberry Moon fall on the same night as the Summer Solstice!!!

Your moon is nice and sharp hanging there in that very black sky. Cropped just right w/ moon slightly off center. Good exposure....I see you used a tri-pod. I really MUST get in the habit myself. You were able to achieve a nice long exposure which shows your moon in a most excellent way.

Nicely done. Best of luck in the contest. This is a marvelous entrant.

Deborah

Thank you. I have a mini tripod that I use almost all the time. Actually I was able to place it on the hood of my car to get it up higher. This was my first attempt at moon shots so I was surprised I was able to pull out so many details with a little post processing. I am still experimenting with my long lens so every shot I take with it is an adventure. Lol

Also I have a little trouble trying to steady the camera with this lens because of the weight so I always need the tripod to shoot

You're very welcome meg. I MUST make myself use a tri-pod! lol...I am really bad about that. I love taking photos when the moon is full but seeing what marvelous detail you got here makes it clear that I could do much better if I used the tri-pod.

I bought this tripod on Amazon. I think it called a gorilla or something like that. It's legs are flexible and can be twisted in all directions so it can be used on uneven surfaces. I don't recall that it was extremely expensive. Best thing I ever bought. It gets a lot of use.

Thanks for that info meg. I'm going to check it out. I could use a tri-pod on a lot of my flower photos too.
