what a pity that you didn't enter it to the bumble bee contest: a certain winner;
fantastic sharp details; would be a six but unfortunately the colors are oversaturated;

    Oh those ARE the colors sg...not that I'm whining for the six...I'm not. Just want you to know my ASTERS are REALLY that color and those marvelous bees are fuzzy and bright orange. Thank you for checking them out though. Do appreciate it.

    maybe it is the camera setting, but the colors are highly oversaturated; there are many obvious details like the blue wings of the bb

Holy explosion of colors Doc!
I have never seen a red banded BUMBLE before.
This is is a nice capture and even though the focus is a tad soft on the Bumble and flower petals in foreground, the explosion of color makes up for that. I like the 3D like look of this.
Nice capture Doc

    Actually they're called orange-banded or tri-colored Bumble Bees and they are super fuzzy. Thanks so much Sange for checking them out. I really appreciate it.

This is awesome and I would rate it a six but don't have one. I love how clear this picture is and how colorful it is. Fantastic job.

You get 6 stars for your title!

I love this post Deb, the purple shades both in focal point and in the bokeh make for luscious eye candy viewing but the icing on this well baked cake are those bees dressed in ORANGE/RED fur coats. I've never seen bees like this and I've lived a long long life ...ha.

Top notch flower photography with a zing.

    Glad you appreciated the title Olga...lol...tossed around a number of them in my mind but they all involved the 'ass' ahahaha. Yes, the bees are special. I never see these guys until the ASTERS bloom and then they absolutely show up by the hundreds. I really appreciate the delightful review. Thanks so much Olga.

What a color! The bees are adorable in color. My first time to see such color of bee. Focus on them and the flower is good. Even the hair of the bees is noticeable.

Pretty and colorful flower. The insects fighting over the flower are colorful too. Excellent clarity and lighting with a good DOF. Interesting artist notes as well. :) ~Alveria

Beautiful shades of purple dominate the foreground, and the green in the background contrasts this, as these colors create lots of vibrancy. Great focus on the front, and it seems like the flower's the main star and the bee the supporting actor.

This is beautiful. The purple petals of these amazing flowers are gorgeous. I love the sharpness of the foreground and the blurred background. The balls of purple among the deep greens give this picture a fairy tale look. The bees are decorated to splendidly.
