Well done, white birds in blue skies often come out black, good exposure, good use of thirds, good color and good clarity good picture

    Thank Dale. Appreciate the review.

nice capture of the bird, but the empty space should be before her, so she as were to go and not on her back leaving a very huge negative area

thanks for sharing

Thanks Galia. Yes I could have cropped it the other way, but I thought this perspective was different - leaving home and going to the unknown.

Thought of 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull' immediately when I saw this Chuck.

Interesting PoV and I especially like the way the light is falling on the rear edge of his wings from above. Wonderful focus....nice natural colors.

The only thing that bothers me is the way you've cropped this. I don't mind the space behind him (the cloud balances that out) but the lack of space in front of him seems a tad severe to me.

Wonderful shot of the gull though. I can see it on the cover of the book I mentioned.

Thanks Deb. Your'e not the first to comment on my cropping on this one. But I wanted a different perspective to the shot - leaving home and going to the unknown,

well that's an interesting take Chuck. Welcome for the review.

Bird in flight are so difficult to position and unfortunately to me this bird has nowhere to fly and too much space behind. The lighting, focus and exposure are all great.

Can we reverse or flip this photo so that a longer space would be to the direction where this gull is heading to?
KISS principle.
Simply visually soothing.
Plain backdrop withou much nuances.
Subtle illumination.
Pin sharp focusing.
Improve framing.
Thanks for sharing...

Thanks for the review Dick. As for the cropping I thought a different perspective might be nice - leaving his home and going to the unknown.

A rather unorthodox composition with the bird flying out of the frame. It is however nicely balanced by the cloud. Good detail and nice understated colors.

Nice shot with good clarity, lighting, and color. Good human eye view. :) My only suggestion, in my humble opinion, would be to have more negative space in front of the seagull for it to "fly into" and less in back of it. A well taken photo with good framing. ~Alveria

Thanks. Thought about cropping it reversed, but I thought this brought an interesting perspective to the shot - showing where he/she came from with the unknown awaiting him/her.

Didn't think about it that way, nice perspective, I like it. ;) ~Alveria
