This is a beautiful photo of a Heron Willie, and the background is stunning with the reflections from an autumn forest. I also think you have captured a very fine reflection from the bird in the shiny water.
The Heron is standing out really sharp and well defined against this colorful background, and it is clear and well defined details to be seen in every part of the bird. It is nothing wrong with the exposure either.
The photo is nicely cropped and the bird has got a fine placement off to the left. The log sticking out on the right work as a nice balance. Indeed a lovely and well taken photo with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

But it somehow accentuate the heron and the impressive reflections.
