I really like the depth and shadows in this image. The lighting is very flattering to the flower. The petals are well defined and the colors are very nice.

Lotus Bloom as it has great clarity showing of it's color. it must be nice to have a place to get a good photo op year round.
I hope you can find a calmer time to enjoy taking them from better vantage points.

Thanks so much Ron, we are very lucky to live so close to so many wonderful things, the city center is only 3km away, hills are 10 min drive, beaches 20 mins and wineries 20 mins so spoilt for choice. Guess that's why Adelaide was voted the most livable city in the world last year.

Oh boy..a Zoo AND Botanical Gardens right next to each other. Cannot get much better than that, can it!! This is a gorgeous flower and your photograph of it looks well considered and executed. Focus is crisp and sharp...most especially on the petals. The colors is lovely and natural....you haven't over-done anything and I always appreciate that.
Background is not only a lovely, complimentary shade it is nice and soft so DOF couldn't be better either. Two small suggestions. I may have stepped right or left just a tad to try to avoid the shadow on those beautiful petals. Finally, I might have cropped this even closer. I love a flower-filled frame and your LOTUS is pretty enough and strong enough that it could easily handle a tighter crop.
Absolutely nothing wrong w/ your presentation Mary. Just a couple of things I would try if this were my flower post. It's a well considered and well executed photo. I like it a lot!

What a wonderful image. The focus is bloom solid with just the grandest detail. Perfect play on the lighting as well - dancing over those petals in a fabulously artistic way. Perfect background as well to give the bloom total power. Thanks for sharing.
