I am a big fan of low key photographs. I'm sure you have had comments about how this needs to be brighter. I think it would look nice brighter too, but I like the low light level. Your colors are very nice and you picked up great detail.

Thanks again, fortunately most have liked the lighting only one who thinks I should have waited for better light. Glad you enjoyed viewing. :) Mary

Very interesting approach to this capture - the lighting is grandly capture to the scene. Wonderful. The detail over the bloom is fabulous - everywhere. Great background for the perfect lift. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mark, must be an awesome sight when your tree is in flower. We planted one in backyard but don't think it is doing to well just keep hoping it will survive our summer heat. :) Mary

Mary the beauty in this flower is just so special!
I love the stamin? that fell off and is just sitting there waiting for the very end.
Although in shadow, we see lots of nice details here. Well done.

a very nice close up of this magnolia grandiflora mary; I have the same in my garden, blooming in July;
sharp focus on the petals and fallen stamens;

Thanks Fred, this one is very late blooming but think a lot of plants are confused with our unusual weather during the year. Cheers Mary

Was there ever a time when this thick-petaled lovely bloom receives a good illumination?
The fallen anthers would have been interesting when highlighted well.
Too much shade here.
The dark backdrop would have popped the details, features and textures aesthetically.
Diffused focusing. Compact framing. Thanks for sharing...

Thanks Dick, sorry you don't like the shade, personally I like the lighting and wouldn't change anything. :) Mary

Magnolia Blossoms have always struck me as being such impressively pretty things,my friend,and your presentation of this softly shadowed one presents us with a 'Good Show' indeed!

Thanks so much, glad you like the shadowy presentation most reviewers have so far only one that objected to lighting, wouldn't do if we are all the same though LOL :) Mary

Some 'reviewers' don't like anything that's the least bit 'different' looking! : D

An enjoyable presentation. I am interested in the concept of presenting the light as an element of surprise. With low light the focus on the petals is enjoyable, but it is the highlighted part that first calls attention and then leads eyes to the whole structure of the flower.
Well done and thanks for sharing.

a very nice shot, Zilyram.
as I enjoy the shade as the flower is in full bloom as it's center is falling into the cupped Magnolia leaves.
as it still looks good for it's ending bloom.
thank you for sharing.
always,
ron

Hi Mary,
Your welcome as it looks neat that the center just sits in the cupped flowers. nice catch.
