This was a great contest entry. I like how you framed the hanging light as the entrance to the scene. It emphasizes the age of the house well. I like the style of the ceiling roofs and how they give the view more character. Your composition of this scene was very smart.

Thank you very much Grace. Yes this a pretty neat old abandoned farm house. It had a lot of character. I truly appreciate you taking the time to find this and your commentary ~ Steve

I really like this rustic scenic and all its character and depth as you pull our eye into the depths of the frame. Great colors to draw upon, lovely warm light and appealing composition

Oh no, not down this porch again! I can't do this, please, let's go another way. To me, this picture provokes a unfinished memory, because I stopped suddenly and wanted not to go to the end. There is a man just inside that door and when you go inside, you may not come out again. There is where I stopped and for that reason, this memory is unfinished. Very gooood work! Love so many that you have done, are doing and yet more to come. Thanks!

I just voted for this, and now I even know who is the artist. LOL It is your perspective doing this photo so special, and how you have included the lamp hanging down in the foreground. It is fine leading lines as well bringing the viewer into the composition.

The photo is all over sharp but especially the lamp is standing out really clear and well defined. I also think the exposure is perfect.

The format and cropping is working really well and with the lamp a bit off to the right, it is a fine balance in the composition. Indeed a nice and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

    Exactly. LOL

I like that you focused on the porch rather than the traditional larger view of the overall house. This photo does leave the viewer with a feeling of loss and a yearning to see the chairs occupied with friendly folks sharing stories and laughs. Depth of field and lighting throughout is perfect. Good luck in the contest!

Thank you for your intuitive review and comments. Loss and yearning is what I attempted to achieve.

excellent angle of shot and depth of field, but I think you have over done the colors enhanced, making it look very unreal and unnatural

good luck with the contest and thanks for sharing

Aptly captured for the contest theme... Poignant & nostalgic
Image.
This vintage hanging incandescent bulb is witness to the many untold stories in this house.
Vanishing viewpoint.
Diminishing perspective.
Subtle illumination.
Compact framing.
Sharply focused.
Good perspective & long depth of field...
Best of luck in the contest!

Very clever and creative use of the hanging lightbulb as the focus of your photo. I don't often see (or shoot myself) in the vertical format, but this really works. The colors feel old and I can almost hear the dry leaves crackling.

Looks like a old acrylic painting. The mixed media, none has be wondering about the scene. The concept and the capture is truly stunning and you have turned back the clock many decades. The vertical crop is perfect and would make a fabulous canvas.
