Beautiful digital art image, Cleo, of this young ballerina hoping she's danced well. Excellent brushstrokes and use of light and shade and colour. I like the soft background, too. Really lovely image. Suzanne

Amazing creation. The skin tone, light and shadows, upper body and facial proportions are on point. The expression on her face has us all hoping that she gets the solo part. Excellent story telling presentation. Well deserved contest winning painting.

Oh my goodness ! You have portrayed her beautiful face, her emotions as she awaits the decision so so very well, it makes the viewer really hope along with her that she is chosen for the solo. Well shaped face, beautiful facial structure and features, I love the way you bring her and her feelings to life here! Well shown dance leotard and the background is perfect! This is beautiful and amazing work! I'm happy I have a six to award !

I love this. I have been waiting until I had a six for your. This is a classic work of art...with both detail and shadows used to perfection to show her features. I like how you have her front.right eye in a bit stronger contrast than the left eye...making it seeming to fade into the lightness of your frame. And colors are subtle and perfectly blended for skin tones, hair and dark eyes. I think you have proven your prowess with your paint brushes by showing no hard lines in any part of her facial features and yes a large brush stroke used for your beautiful and complimentary background. A gorgeous young girl..with an expression perfectly captured by your artistic hand. Lovely.

Very nicely done. Her face is well proportioned and skin color is spot on. She does look pensive as if she is asking how she did.

This is really awesome Cleo. I was just coming to send you a message and I saw this beautiful digital painting. It is so lifelike, yet not too detailed. Her expression is perfect, like a young girl seeking approval.

Wonderful work. Best of luck in the contest :)

Confused about the process - but very pleased with the results. I like the realism yet surrealism both present in this image. The subject in and of herself is quite appealing and the expression of youth draws us in with nurturing interest. The swirl that appears to frame her in the background adds somehow to her mood.

Thank you very much for your encouraging comments.
Am I right to assume that it is the process of painting you are confused about? The portrait is painted digitally, but my program resembles pretty much traditional tools. I even choose the canvas texture and the brush sizes and shapes.I paint on a pad using my fingers. It needs many hundred brush strokes to complete a painting.

That is incredible - Thank you so much for explaining this intricate process.

Very well balanced portrait. Great expression on the girls face as she waits for judgement. Good color composition and very good proportion of facial features. Nice job!

So much beauty found in this portrait of the young ballerina. Her expression with anticipation in her face, the look in her eyes, the way she holds her lip excellent job. Your shading of colors and brush stroke beautifully done. Good luck in the contest. A pleasure to view! thanks for sharing!
