That is a cute expression on his face. Such a bummer that you can't get around the fence. Makes me appreciate the set up of our zoos around where I live, but there are some animals that are behind fences and netting that is difficult if not impossible to get around. I like how you got a clear shot of the eyes and that you timed a great expression.

Pretty good zoo shot posted here! Think the expression on the face is indicative of an incarcerated animal. Please do not conclude that I am anti zoo because I am not! Your image is well composed, has good exposure and is sharp. Well done!

he says stick your finger thru the fence he wants to lick it..wink..lolol. the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of big cat eyeballing you thru the fence great. the capture of the light is great. the image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall

Ron, A great picture of the elderly Lion checking you out & maybe enjoying his reflection in your lens. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Hi and one thing I take out of this is the sad abnormal look to expressions of animals kept in zoos. No 1- most are overweight and know when vehicle comes with regular DEAD meat. No-2 they have limited area to live in. No-3 how can you teach a lion to exercise in these confinements. Thankfully circuses are being wound up to stop working with animals for human pleasure. We need to continue to educate our children via TV, You tube and any ways of educating them of where they live, breathe and live a natural life not caged so your offspring can boast on a monday morning they saw a tiger or whatever to their schoolmates. Woops sorry Ron,but because of your photograph which sums this all up I am glad through this take maybe we can move on with nature. Sorry Ron I am not using this as a platform. Thank you. Cheers--Dave.

There are two subjects I try to avoid in photography. One is telephone wires and the other is cyclone fences. Here the fence reinforces the restraint on the behavior of the animal. A technically good shot but not my cup of tea.

    hi michiganmike,
I will keep that in mind as I had 2 to deal with so tough not to get one being about 10 inches apart.
sorry it is not your cup of tea but that is the way this last resort zoo operates.
as it would be nice to see a more open space for them but the zoo is just struggling to get by.
as they take in other wildlife others disregard sad to say.
thank you for viewing and your kind review,

This is a great shot, really clear and a nice close up as well. He is a beautiful animal that looks to me as he would like to be free. The details of his face are incredible.

    hi Moonbaby.
glad you enjoy it despite the other fence you don't see.
yes the big animals seemed to be genital as they made there way to the fences thinking I had a treat.
yes I have a few he looks proud on his perch but seeing this made my heart sink.
as it looked to peaceful to be caged and would hope a wildlife refugee would accept him.
thank you for viewing and your kind review.

Behind cyclone wire fence is a pitiful image of this wildlife creature held in captivity for commercial purposes!
An artistic rendition. Monochromatic colors. Excellent details & features. Impressive strokes & textures. Thanks for sharing...

    Hi Dx,
yes it is tough seeing 2 fences caging him in as it seems to be peaceful.
it is tough as bigger zoos discard them and are left for there last chance.
glad you enjoy viewing it as it was a peaceful shot to share.
as the photo can say so many emotions.
just like a picture says a thousand words.
thank you for viewing and you continued support.

He is a stellar fellow with a very cute look - hope he is a happy fellow though. Great capture here of the moment of captivity. Great detail so the focus is spot on. Fabulous color and lighting as well. It is of course the message of this fellow that moves me grandly and your capture! Thanks for sharing.

    hi momentsofjoy,
yes he looked better in a far away photo, but coming back I got him to come close.
it was tough with a double fence but after he sprayed marking it's territory came up for a close up.
as it looked happy to see someone and maybe a treat.
but I think this is a nice shot of peace as he looked at me.
thank you for enjoying the moment in his face.
your welcome, thank you for viewing and kind review.
as I try to catch up again not feeling great.
