Great shot! I like how you've captured the woman with her toes cooling off in the water while she looks like she is enjoying a book on a warm summer day. Very cool photograph!

Very clever and one of a kind entry Fred. You are like a Submarine scope, half in half out of the water.
Has a Gaussian blur look I like.
Nice focus, clever POV being half in half out of the water.
Nice work Fred :)

thanks a lot Sandra for your encouraging comments;
I'm always surprised to see inappropriate entries accepted at a contest

The photo does a great job with showing a leisurely activity in a slightly unique fashion. The bottom half helps balance out the heat of the photo, because of the sunlight and apparently warm weather. The coolness of the water and the heat of the air come together and harmonize to make this photo show the hot parts of summer without coming on too strongly.

You are always up for a challenge sg aren't you! Gotta love that. Couldn't imagine what people would enter in this contest....this is a very clever entrant....good notes btw.
So..your photo. Most impressed w/ how crisp it is both above AND below the water. She is amazingly well detailed from the tips of her red polished toe nails up through the title of the book she is reading. Good color.
Sitting here hearing that winter is throwing more snow at us w/in the next couple of days sg....so I am very envious of your lovely, tanned relaxed model in the pool...lol Best of luck to you in the contest....and again, good for you for challenging yourself w/ something VERY different here.

This is indeed cleverly done, and I am very glad you explained how this photo was taken. It is almost intriguing with the haze across while the body and the feet are in sharp focus.
It is clear and well defined details to be seen in the sharp areas, and the all over exposure is fine. The whites on the book is still very close to being over exposed.
The photo is nicely cropped and the woman is well placed within the frame. Indeed a creative and well taken photo, and I wish you luck with the contest.

Very creative. Interesting how the water distorts her feet making them look so big. It looks like she has a third leg right in the middle.
Nice pose with the book. Well done.

I just LOVE this. So fun, creative and unexpected. I think with so many photographers out there, to find something unique and unexpected is a real treat. Your focus is excellent and your exposure excellent despite being in harsh sun. Well done. I am not sur how you pulled of the half underwater, half above water shot? Done with a camera made for shooting in water? Your colors are vibrant and fun, your crop is well done, and even the details are fun from the painted toenails to the books she is reading.
