Cool,Cleo!
Your digital rendition of this attractively colorful ,rain-dampened Orchid makes for an interesting and very enjoyable presentation,my friend!
It's a really 'Good Show' of a picture! : )

Oh Cleo this is just a gorgeous piece. Wow but you do absolutely amazing digital work. Excellent notes btw...if these trees grow that tall I imagine these flowers must be fairly large???

OK- your piece here. Wonderful colors. The blossom, in particular is stunning. The way you've done it w/ the light falling on it is so lovely but what I really like is the way you've used all the different shades....blended together so realistically...and the raindrops remaining on it are done up perfectly...even to almost dripping down off the ends of the stamens. The greens are just dreamy and make such an outstanding frame for your pretty pink blossom. Without a doubt one of the nicest digitally done flowers I have seen here Cleo...easily worth one of my tightly guarded gold stars.

...and I just noticed your German Shepard up there today. It is the only kind of dog I have had since I was a child. Do you have one too or is she there just for your German heritage??

Thank you very much for your golden and throughout review! :o)
Those blossoms are indeed big, about 8-9 inches when fully open.
German Sheppard? Do you mistake me with someone? I never owned one. I have several kinds of dogs posted, painted and photos, but never a German Sheppard. There are pictures of Husky, which almost look like a longhair German Sheppard, but those are older posts.

Now that confused me Cleo- the bit about the German Shepard I mean (for, of course I wouldn't confuse YOU w/ anybody else....lol) So went back to this page and had another look and realized the German Shepard is b/c you are #2 Digital Artist and the German Shepard is for THAT! So my apologies. But you are so very welcome for the review and golden rating. I love this piece you did...well deserved.

    Ha. ha!
I did not even think of that.
    No reason to apologize.
I was pretty confused myself because I did not realized that you picked the flower from my portfolio. :o)

Well I thought it was a good idea what you told me you did. Review something of those that had reviewed one of yours. So that's how I got to your portfolio. You had reviewed one of mine. Gets me in trouble sometimes though b/c I don't always notice that a piece is in a blind contest if I'm at someone's portfolio and I've used a name a couple of times when I shouldn't have.

Accidents happen. To avoid them, I never use names if the piece is in a contest, just in case the contest is blind. [There is always a little note in the left corner above the big picture if it is an contest entry] :o)

Yes....I noticed that and that's a good way to do it....another good idea from you Cleo. Thank YOU! lol

one of your very best flower depictions. so skillfully achieved but this one has a grand and choice angle, that shows the bloom off to a maximum effect. really a great image and sort of harps back to an old time, style of painting, whilst remaining completely fresh. loving the background also (colour + balance).

Cleo, this is just amazing. Before I saw the enlarged image I was sure it was a photo! The flower is SO realistic - and the dewdrops - wow! I just bought ArtRage 5, and I see I have a LONG way to go to before I can even hope to create something close to being as good as this. Awesome work!

    Thank you lots David!!!
You will indeed need a time to learn ArtRage, but you learn faster by experimenting with the program.
I have 10 years of experience, but still learn new tricks. There are tutorials and the help buttons, but I admit that I learned more by trial and error. There seem to be more possibilities than written in the manual. Sometimes it is as if the program expands and develops itself when I experiment.

a beautiful presentation of this orchid although at first i thought it was a fuchsia as there are so many varieties that look like this. You have used wonderful brush strokes and palette knife strokes to produce what is a glorious image on canvas...impressive work

Thank you very much for your encouraging reviews.
Fuchsias won't grow in the climates of Orchid Trees, They have also much smaller blossoms than the tree. The blossom in the painting is about 8-9 inches wide [about 20 cm]. The trees get to a height of 30-40 feet.

I love the soft touches to this picture. The amount of detail into the petals and stems really makes this stand out. The background having the swirls of green with one set of leaves in detail above the flower gives a great depth.

This is beautiful. Color composition brings out the beauty and visibilitu of the pink bloom. Brush stroke is enjoyable. It builds texture and design of the bloom and leaves.

Well done and thanks for sharing.

I love how the flower hangs showing off it's delicate beauty and lovely colors. It is incredible how you can paint such details painting digitally.
Love the contrasting colors of the pink and green and the way you even painted on water droplets.
Nice work Cleo Girl!!

This is indeed a beautiful flower, and you have painted it so well that the image looks like photo when you only see the thumbnail version. The image is also in one of my favorite combinations of colors: pink and green. The droplets look so real in the lower petal of the bloom, and it is easy to see that you have indeed paid attention to details. It is also fine textures to be seen both in the flower and the background.

You have also painted in fine high lights to give life and light to this work of art.

The painting is nicely framed and I think the flower has got a very fine placement off to the left. This of course makes for a good and well balanced composition. A truly lovely and well done digital painting Cleo.

A nice dripping bloom shot posted here! Your off centre composition provides us with a good look at your bloom and immediate surroundings. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Perhaps the shot might benefit from being brightened a little? Otherwise, well done!

Thank you very much for your encouraging comments and your input. It will be complicated to brighten the picture because this is a painting not a photo. :o)
