I do like these fuzzy like lollipops Doc! I like the diagonal lean on the three we see. The bumbles are busy ignoring you and your camera.
It's a nice Capture but I do have wishes for sharper focus on the bees. Still a nice capture of these alien lollipops!

Oh you were very kind to me here Sange. Although I love this image it is definitely not one of by best technically done up shots....lol. I like it enough though that I decided to post it anyway and was ready to take a hit here and there. Surprisingly, reviewers were very generous w/ me....including you! Yes, the Bumble Bees (and there were hundreds) could not have cared less about me and my camera....seems even they were willing to cut me some slack...lol. You must have seen my notes somewhere re: me referring to this as my 'Alien Plant' It is such a big, odd thing....most definitely a 'look at me' type of plant. So thank you so much for checking this guy out and for being so kind w/ your review.

An excellent capture here. Again...a difficult choice of what to have clearly in focus. Your Globe thistle is well defined and shows the intricate little blossoms forming the globe. The bees are an added interest and look to be ravaged for the nectar from this flower.

Your colors are always gorgeous. I especially like the natural colors of the golden honey like color of the bees vs your bloom. That lovely purple/blue is stunning.

I enjoy studying your bg very much. I'm pretty sure those are day lilies..but you have such a wide array of flowers please correct me as I would like to know.

A beautiful shot...artistically placed in the frame. Are your hopes up along with some sprouts in your neck of the cold zone?

Nope...you are spot on correct Becky. HEMEROCALIS ('Daylilies') in the background. I have some very late ones...which also happen to be the big ones too. I really liked the shot of color behind the ECHINOPS. You were very generous in your comment re: a difficult choice of what to have clearly in focus....lol...Most definitely NOT one of my technically better images here....but I smile every time it scrolls by on my screensaver and decided to post it despite it's less than perfect qualities. Actually been surprised how generous reviewers were.....lol...I had prepared myself to take a hit here and there. So thank you so much for having a look and for being so kind w/ your review.

Great capture, Deborah, showing the happy bumble bees on the lovely Echinops plant and thanks for your informative notes with this. I like the angle you used for this, showing the three different sized blooms. Excellent lighting and focus. Very good composition. Suzanne

Superb focus on this intricate flower. You must have connived with the wind not to move a muscle. The colors are rich and I like the contrast of the far away orange reds with the blues and greens. There certainly are a lot of bees... a very good sign. Maybe it attracts so many because in August there are many less flowering nectar-bearing
flowers. The author's notes were greatly appreciated.

So pleased to have you mention the notes Cammy. I'm a tad OC w/ my flowers and do a ridiculous amount of research before adding a new one to my gardens....lol...hence the rather comprehensive notes I include w/ my flower images. Do appreciate you checking this one out and thank you for the lovely review you've given it too!

Well done Deb for another well timed and beautifully captured shot, with good DOF and colour contrast and also capturing all the bees at work simultaneously, taken with good clarity (a little fuzzy but hey), and with nice vivid colours and textures of the flower - lovely shot.

lol...yes, El-M...a little fuzzy and want you to know how much I appreciate the 'but hey'.....not one of my best images actually but I smile every time it scrolls by on my screen saver so decided 'what the hell...I'll post it anyway' Thank you so much for the wonderful review and...lol...for not docking me! You're a sweetie.

Deborah,
A wonderful picture of this ornamental Onion Bloom with it's "Congregation" of Bumble Bees that I think may be of the species Bombus Griseocolis & beside one of them a Honey bee. You are right bees just love these flowers, I've seen them covering almost the whole flower in the past. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
Susan

Similar to an ALLIUM (aka- 'Ornamental Onion') Susan but this is a different family actually. It's commonly known as a 'Globe Thistle' and is quite a bit smaller than those huge ALLIUM balls. Do appreciate you naming the Bee variety....I think you were the only one to pick up on the second kind there so good eye!! Always appreciate having you review one of my pieces and thank you so much for the lovely review you've given this one.

Patience and a heck of a zoom lens to get this photograph? I'm not sure I've ever seen that many bees on one flower before. Great focus and cropping, I like the way the rest of the picture fades into the background.

My first comment is WOW! The blue color really pops against the background and the detail you capture in the flower is fantastic! Then I noticed the bees....It's a pollen party! Great look into the life of a bee.
