That is a cool picture. I like the conversion to B/W and is that a slide in the playground that still has some color in it? Great crop and focus, the B/W effect really makes this picture.

I like this image in black and white and I think it makes it a more powerful scene. Also your tonal range is great. Good camera techniques and nice stop action. Nice is the tree line framing the train and how bright the light on the train shines. You framing, focus, lighting, details, clarity and contrast are all excellent. Truly a well taken photo with a good depth of field. A really fine entry for this contest and good luck!

Very apt presentation for the black n white contest with an excellent use of software to alter the overall feel and perception of the piece. What did draw my attention was the slide which appears to have retained its slight yellow/orange hue...great presentation good luck in the contest

This is wonderful! There are so many places where the light is needed to define the textures and the detail...and you have captured it perfectly. The head lamp on the engine is the clincher! And I cannot resist the power lines as they cut through your leafy textures. I think those have made this a realistic and delightful composition. Great choice ... B&W. Very well done!

amazing how black and white brings out a lotta detail. the angle of the shot of the train, tracks and terrain is great. the capture of the light is great; the clarity is great. the image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. great eye and great job overall

Stark contrasting Black and white is very striking here.
I see a little play of color with the swing way back there. REally stands out.

Power lines could be distracting, but in this photo the add to the ambiance. The conversion to black and white bring the details of the railroad station well to attention. I assume the bright spot on top of the engine is a spot light. It got a bit to bright, which distracts. You might consider to darken this spot a bit.

Well this is certainly a switch. I have become accustomed to your post being very bright with sharply contrasting colors.
Back in the days of X-Rays being recorded on dual emulsion film the gold standard was to produce images with "long scale contrast", that is images with a wide range of gray tones in between absolute black and white. Short scale contrast was the opposite, mostly black and white.
This take falls into the latter category of short scale. That is neither good nor bad just a matter of what is pleasing to the eye. Considering the sharp color contrast of your previous post this fits naturally. The draw back to short scale is that when 2 edges with the same black value appear opposite one another you lose edge definition between the 2.
This is a well framed and exposed take. Detail is excellent throughout.
This should be a strong contender in the contest.
Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is that a "yellow" slide over to the swings?

Has a slightly antique feel to this and so works well in b/w and the lowish angle works well,might if I,m being picky waited a second and got the train in a more prominent position,but other than that a good one...brian
