Oh my goodness....this is the most amazing photo of a Poppy that I have not seen...not even in photos. This looks like a paper flower.. It is soooo beautiful!
Your photographic skills have given this specimen it's due by using the light and shadow to show the details in what is an artistically, simple blossom. Your colors are rich and pure..nothing over saturated...but vibrant. Wow!
Your bg is perfect. It is full of textures and earthy colors that do nothing to upstage this bloom....it only accents it. That subtle spray of green in the lower right corner is exactly what was needed...as that third point of interest.... Poppy, spray and bg.
Your framing is expert. You choose to push the center line to the very closest point...it makes us fellow photographers take time to study and see is the majority of your subject is off center or on. Makes me smile that you do this. I can see by your bg margin on either side of the flower that it is veering to the left. Excellent...and daring! Best of luck in the contest! Should be a strong contender.

Yikes, what a nice review to wake up to. You made me aware of a lot of things about this shot I had not noticed.
They are really a hard flower to photography. They are very monochromatic, often making it look like the orange is blown out.
Little detail in the leaves that show through. So it takes just the right light angle to show some detail. This is my 1 percent success with these flowers! :)
