A lovely narrative but a sad and all too common occurrence - I have witnessed this behaviour too when one passes away, the vultures swoop. Regarding the painting, considering you were "doodling", you have created a lovely piece showing the horse in great proportion and light colours, with the rider/jockey drawn with an alternative look which is interesting and not too detailed as to make it too life like and retaining a wonderful artistic feel and a lovely array of colours and background make it a lovely piece, great work.

Thank you-- what I am told is that the elderly person is already feeling low and if they are moved at that time, it adds extra stress on their already fragile system, hence the numerous quick deaths upon moving them into a care home. To avoid this, one needs to send a letter to lawyer and doctor whilst in good health, that you wish to be cared for at home.
