Deb, I love your notes and the whole flashlight scenario which looking at this piece seems to work like a charm. First of all the composition is fabulous with that neat angle for two blooms. It really displays the blooms in a way that accentuates the lighting effect you wanted to capture. Boy, did you ever capture those effects. The nuances of light to dark and tinges of pale color between are gorgeous. Plus the shot is clear and finely detailed too. Original, creative, and a pure joy to view. Wish I was there to see it in person.

awww...Ed that is just an outstanding review you've given my lovely white PEONY! 'Original, creative and a pure joy to view'....there is nothing better than that to read about one of pieces. Thank you so very much....and a gold star to boot! This came up on my screen a couple of hours ago....just before damn Internet connection popped off....AGAIN...so I am writing this in hopes I can get it sent to you the minute it decides to POP back on again. Seriously, thank you Ed.

How stunning I do love your images of the beautiful night time flowers. The lighting and color are stunning. The little droplets of water and touches of pink add to overall impact. :) Mary

Oh me too Mary. This white blossom is really lovely during the day but once the night-time rolls in it turns into something very special I think. Do appreciate you having a look and thanks so much for the lovely review you've given it.

You certainly captured it perfectly. Whatever it took to get this shot was worth it. I am in awe of this gorgeous flower and cannot believe that it is so huge. I see the little wisps of pink in the coloring against the dark background. Can't get much better.

Peonies are very nice flowers indeed but this composition gives a better idea of how beautiful they are. I loved the colors white and some pink, the bright is astonishing, Sorry I've no more words to explain how good it's your work

LOL....you're a nut Catmal....but this flower reminding you of a wedding is spot on. Many brides carry a single large white blossom like the one here in my image. Me?? lol...I just put them in a vase on my wood stove! Thank you so much for checking this one out and for sharing some extra sparkle w/ it catmal. I do really appreciate it.

No garden without Peonies, and these white ones indeed look great. I only have pink ones and they are actually in bloom right now. Yours are standing out so well against the dark background and are so beautifully lit.

Your photo of them is also nice and sharp and it is such clear and well defined details to be seen in every fringed petal. I also think both the white balance and the exposure is very good.

The very tight cropping is working well, and your main flower has got a very good placement off to the right. A truly lovely and well taken photo Deborah, and with an excellent DOF.

Well hello there av! You are so right....what would a garden be w/o some PEONIES!! I do find it odd, however, when I am out working in the PEONY bed at my place thinking about how these shrubs will still be here long (and I DO mean long) after I'm gone. Anyway, before I get too maudlin over my gardens...lol just let me say thank you so much for the thorough and lovely review. Am always happy to see YOU at the end of one av.

You are so right. My pink ones was planted in the garden when I was a small child, so I am sure they must be at lest 65 years old. You are more than welcome for the review Deborah.

This is the most subtle illumination of all the captures you had--but still aesthetically presented.

No blown out whites!

The diagonal framing looks dynamic.
Fine features & soft textures.

Darkened backdrop lends a perfect background.

Nice perspective & narrow DOF.

Thanks for sharing...

Would love to see a garden in person. We did go to Maine once years ago. Got caught in a white out; snow galore. We managed to stay safe. We did visit the Sugarbush Farm in your state. Think I told you that. Very welcome for the stars. Love your photos. Take care.

Wow! What an exquisite capture of this white Peony with touches of pink and yellow. Thank you for your great artists notes. Good camera techniques are used here and I love the angle of your shot. I think these peony flower are a challenge to shot to get are those ruffly petals in focus. Beautiful light and the evening light does make the white flowers brighter or even glow. Your focus is sharp and wonderful capture of the details and color of the flower. This is very nice work and thanks for sharing your beautiful garden flowers! I love this one!

Those subtle tinges of pink and yellow do not show at all in the daylight Mary Lynn....I'm not quite sure if the flashlights had anything to do w/ it or not. You ARE so right about it being more challenging to get ALL the ruffled petals crisp and sharp though so I do appreciate your comments re: that aspect of my image. It's a wonderful review Mary Lynn and I thank you for that AND for sharing a gold star w/ it.
