Incredible and so touching. I think all amazing art has an emotional story behind it. It is so hard to capture a child's expression and you nailed it. I can do adult portraits, but have never been able to do justice to children. They always look like adults! I did a baby when I was a young teen and my brother said it looked like Adolph Rupp! You are so talented!

How can I compete with this? Even though I also entered this contest, I would gladly settle for second knowing first place was well deserved ;) Love the expression on the boy's face and the detail in his eyes. I would suggest to add more texture to his hair but I know hair is hard to execute perfectly :)

Very nice drawing. You really caught the expression on the little boy's face. I love the way the texture in the hair is drawn and the dark background with some light framing the head on the left side. Very balanced composition. Nice work!

I am sure your sister was very happy to get this adorable portrait of her grandson Axel. He has such a lovely smile, and you have pictured this so well. The little face is done paying very good attention to details of the eyes, nose and mouth, and also the shadings are working well.
The composition is also working even if I personally would have liked a bit more negative space on the right side.
