Wow! A stunning tulip!! And you have captured those vivid colors perfectly. Very smart of you to wait until dusk to capture that perfect yellow! And that gorgeous orange. Often times a shot of this in higher light results only in over saturation and the two colors blending into one with any detail. Your detail is crucial in this one...as the feathers of the petals are so very intriguing!

Your center is also well defined. I would love to see you camera settings listed on this one. Your shots are pretty much flawless these days! Always a pleasure to view your beautiful flowers due to your magnificent skills as a photographer! And in your choices as you crop and frame them in your post processing. Can't believe you still have tulips!!! Ours have been long gone for a long time! :D

I'd photographed this guy during the day Becky and you're right...the colors were not nearly as well delineated. Just knew I could make them crisper in the evening. I will dig up my exact camera settings and get them to you. Thank you so much for checking out my new piece and for the wonderful review. Oh and btw- all other TULIPS have been gone for weeks. These guys are a really late variety.

Amazing how many weeks difference there is in garden progress between us! What zone are you?

Mostly Zone 3 but surprisingly there's portions of my gardens (which are pretty big) that are solidly Zone 4. Zone 3 is the reason I have to grow some things as annuals..... What Zone are you Becky?

I consider us between 5 and 6 for perennials. But choosing a zone 6 plant would need to be placed in sunny place, avoiding any side that is open to the north.

ah...yup....you are definitely milder. But we are now too. Used to be SOLID Zone 3 everywhere in my gardens. I know I could grow other flowers if I was willing to dig them up in the autumn....store them blah blah blah lol. I am NOT...willing that is. They have to survive the winter to get a place in my beds.

Very nice macro flower shot presented here! Your nice and classic composition allows us a great look at your gorgeous bloom. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done!

This should have been a voters' choice for the Center of a Flower Photo contest!

Vibrant yellows & contrasting orange hues!

Fine floral core features & soft petal texture--looks almost feathery!

Controlled illumination casting a subtle highlight & subdued shades...

The black backdrop pops out the subject aesthetically from the frame!

Thanks for sharing...
