a great close up of these two butterflies;
the one on the left looks so similar to the common monarch: difficult to see the difference;

    Thank you very much for your kind review.
    The differences are indeed hard to see. On the open wings. look at the wing tips. The Queen misses the black bars the Monarch shows there.

A nice photograph of these two butterflies. I like how you captured one with it's wings closed and the other open. Nicely cropped and centered.

well its a date at the local floral bar. wink. the clarity is great. the angle of the shot of the butterflies around the flowers is great. the capture of the light is great. the image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

    Of course it is a date. That's for what flower-bars are there.

A wonderful picture of these two Queen butterflies you have identified by gender as well, taken with great clarity and sharpness, showing the exquisite detail of the patterns and colours on both of them very well. Great short DOF captures good detail of the plant they are "meeting" on, and also gives good perspective with the greenery & foliage in the background. A great shot and good entry for the competition, best of luck! :)

A beautiful picture of this pair of Monarch Butterflies alighted on the Milkweed plant it's pink flower florets opening so the butterflies can suck their sweet nectar. Artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

    Those are not Monarch, but Queen butterflies, a very similar species which is often mistaken as Monarch.

What a wonderfully sharp and detailed photo. How lucky to have caught these beautiful creatures, showing off their delicately patterned wings. A very good composition too.
