I like the way the light gives the petals a subtle shine. Your captured very nice detail of every part of the flower. Looks great against the darkness of the background and your framing accentuates the multiple shapes of this interesting flower.

Great macro shot. The tight crop and the perfect focus gives us a real appreciation of the heart of the cone flower. The green center is an interesting color for a cone flower. I have the lavender colored ones and they are only about 5'. The angle of the scene is well placed in the scene. Nice work.

We have flowers like this except that the inner is brown not yellow. Don't know if they are related or not. If you squint your eye, it looks like a banana and the petals are the peel. :P

The black background I cannot take credit for RV. It's all Mother Nature. I often photograph my gardens after dark....gives the flowers a chance to be really dramatic...lol Do appreciate you having a look and thank you for a wonderful review.

Wow! This is a beautiful presentation of your RUDBECKIA laciniata. A good perspective with good camera techniques. I love this variety with the green headed cone flower. So beautiful taken at evening show casing these flower so beautifully. Your diagonal makes for a dynamic shot. Your focus is spot on and sharp with good lighting revealing excellent details on the petals and stamen of this gorgeous garden flower. Thanks always for your good artists notes. Outstanding work and thanks for sharing your garden flowers.

I have also grown this flower but your single blossom is much more dramatic than mine ever were. I love the swept back petals that highlight the seed heads. Excellent focus and depth of colors.

It's exactly why I often show just a single blossom from any of my flowers BC...gives them a chance to really shine all on their own.....plus, I REALLY wanted to showcase this wonderful seed head.....impossible to do if I photograph the entire gang. Always enjoy it when a reviewer is familiar w/ one of the flowers I post. Thank you for such a fine review of this guy.

Beautiful presentation Debbi. It has spectacular initial impact, glorious color, exceptionally sharp detail and an interesting shot to look at. The angle at which you framed this along with the partial nudity of the seed head make it visually artistic and unique in composition. Good choice of color for the background to give it contrast. Stunning.

And we think alike. I love to shoot nature at night for that very same reason. The dark background adds to the drama of the shot. You still up north? I finally had enough of the winter and we moved south to Florida. Good to hear from you Deborah.

Yup Aimee...about as far north as you can be w/o being in Canada. So you moved to Florida....we have a number of members that I know of anyway who live down there. Met any of them?? I was happy to see you at the end of this review yesterday....I'll have to check your page and see what you've been up to.

Thanks Deborah, we just couldn't take the cold weather any longer. Love it down here. Hope this coming winter isn't a rough one on you.

Just about to hit the 'off' key for the night and up popped this review from you Neil....decided I could not wait....lol Contests....I am really bad about even checking out what contests are going....I've been nudged before about them. I was really pleased that this particular image ended up EXACTLY as I'd pictured it in my head.....camera, flower and me were all in perfect sync a couple of nights ago. You are a doll for having a look and giving it such a wonderful review AND a gold star and you have no idea how pleased I am to read your comments re: my notes. Thank you so much for all of it. Now I shall hit the 'off' key w/ a big smile on my face.
