OH Wow supergold, the detail you captured in this one is phenomenal. The entire moth appears to be soft and feathery to the touch. Its markings resemble
buttons placed on its wings.
What an excellent closeup
that is beautiful in color.
Nicely centered and nice soft
background that does not distract from the subject.
Excellent capture. You know
I love moths! Sometimes they are as beautiful as butterflies.

    thanks a lot Marsha;
    this is really a macro, not a close up;
    I posted the entire moth last week; this is only the head.....

Fred,
A great picture hi lighting this Giant Moth's feather like Antennae it's thorax & wings appearing to be covered in fine soft fur & those warning "Eye" watching us while warning off predators that might fancy it for breakfast! Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

I never knew the difference between moths and butterflies until I joined FART....

You did get a wonderful close up of those fibrillated antennae, gorgeous.

Yes for that letterbox format, what else could you have done with that wingspan.

Nice entry SuperGod.

    The lay man's term for macro is same size as life or larger. This is a close up.

    this is a true macro: the size is less than 24x36 mm which defines the limit of a true macro;
    but as you know, it is actually accepted to call macro what you cannot take with a normal lens but only with a "macro lens"; however most "macro" lenses, except the top level, don't enlarge more than 1:3!

This is an interesting shot of the moth! Good focus and sharpness. You have framed it well. The light, colour and the composition have worked well. Good luck in the contest!
