I love your sketches.. I was very into mermaids, as a child ofcourse, I suffered with the mermaid, as her prince married a princess and then as an adult she became the symbol of many things to me. But I love this version.

Very cool! your poem is well done and fun to read. A bit of a sad tale but a tale no less. The young mermaid is a creation that needs a book to be captured for all time. The colors and artwork is fun and creative.

Nice supplemental poem!

Cute verdant creation.
Aptly created for the comp!

Fine facial features and smooth textures..
Is this just a figment of your imagination!

You can be a highly paid imaginative book illustration because of your unique compositional style.

Thanks for sharing!

Cool!
I wish you all the luck in the contest.
I like the colors, shading, lines, strokes, fabulous job on the water and rock. The mermaid is the best!

Nice rendering and delineation.
The subject is interesting and I appreciate the poem and notes.
The water is shaded quite nicely as part of the backdrop.
I would work more on the contrast.
The colors of the sky, skin, rocks and scales are to close in value, which makes the image a little murky.
Thanks for sharing.

She caught my eyes. I like that unusual little creature. I know it was yours. Who else could have that idea. Are you turned into a poet? It is a nice poem you illustrated. Might be envy what turned her green, but I think green is a fine color for a mermaids. I like it better than those blond, fishtailed ones. It seems to connect more with the ancient folktales. Mermaids are probably descendants of the green-dragon family which was crossbreed with shrimp in ancient times.

Just wow!

The picture, the poem! I was enthralled reading this. The way you have used the envy as a curse, just fabulous. It flows beautifully and it really tells a story. The artwork is beautiful she looks kind of menacing.

The story behind this sad, sweet green mermaid speaks volumes of how the world is today. Too many green with envy thinking the grass is always greener on the other side.
I love her sad look, vintage/retro style and how she is surrounded by color but feels drab.
Beautiful work Raoul both in writing and drawing.
