Gorgeous stilled capture with all the right colors and selective focus for a exceptional shot. Love your lighting, your shutter speed that stilled those beautiful wings in motion as well as the soft blends of the blues and foliage that really compliment your oriole!

This is truly outstanding. To capture the wingspread with such clarity is a skill in itself. Great camera techniques. This is worthy of winning any contest and I wish you well.

Thank you very much. I shoot these flight shots from a tripod with a gimbal head. I try to keep my shutter speed at 1/2500 sec or faster. There are a very high percentage that get deleted, but I am glad you like this one. Thanks again.

Quite a nice fling bird shot posted here! Wonder where in the world this was taken? Your central composition is very appropriate and captures a good action moment. Exposure and sharpness are fine. Well done and good luck!

Excellent! I miss seeing Orioles. This is a beautiful capture of one in flight. The wings, especially, showing all their detail, are quite good. The composition is spot on and the soft blue sky background is so nice. Great work.

Thank you very much. The background is actually the lake I live on. It records about a stop darker than the sky and prevents the loss of detail that might be a problem when shooting against the sky. You can see a bit of the far shore along the top. Thanks again.

Thank you very much. After a couple weeks of shooting them in my yard I decided to try for some in flight. I tried to anticipate which way they would fly from the feeder and then shoot a burst of about a half dozen shots when you think he is about to take off. (It helps if you think like a bird) I use a gimbal head on a heavy Gitzo and try to shoot at 1/2500. You get lots of empty skies and partial birds. Glad you like this one. Thanks again.

Thank you very much. I try to keep my shutter speed around 1/2500 sec which means pretty shallow depth of field even at ISO 800. The background is the surface of a lake which generally records about a stop darker than the sky would. Here you can see a bit of the far shore along the top. Glad you like it. Thanks again.

A beautiful stop action picture of the male Oriole in flight over you lake on which the clear blue sky is reflected making the perfect contrasting background to it's gold & black plumage, your fast exposure freezing all movement of it's wings & your sharp focus giving us the opportunity to count the flight feather if we wish to. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus. Good luck in the contest.

Thank you very much. I had been shooting them for a week or so before I decided to try to catch them in flight. I use a heavy Gitzo tripod with a gimbal head and after bit of practice I only delete 95%. I try to keep my shutter speed at around 1/2500 sec which means a shallow depth of field even at ISO 800. The background is the lake which records about a stop darker than the sky would. Here at the top you can see a bit of the far shore. Thanks again.

Nice shot here. The colours on the bird are amazing. There is a lot of dead space on the top of the image. Have you though about cutting just green? The tree on the left helps with this image. Well done and good luck with the competition :-)
