For this still life being your first in pastels, it is quite impressive. The brightly colored lemons and flowers stand out beautifully against the dark walls and table in the background. You blended everything perfectly. Thanks for sharing :)

the glass, lemons and flowers are very good, but I do so much more love your landscapes which set one dreaming, as looking out onto endless roofs. You however, thought out the techniques carefully, the dark background which clearly shows the objects in the front of the scene.

Thank you very much. I prefer to do them also. This is my first still life and it was a stretch for me to create it for this contest. It was a learning experience so All is not for naught.

It pops and reads better.
Like this quite a lot for the simple composition and negative space.
You have done quite well for using this medium the first time.
The glass is particularly good. That is hard to do!
The lemons are a little overly bright and need some additional color or tone down the whites here.
Also, I would add a little more light to the transparent shadow thrown by the glass. It should be a little lighter. This would reduce the heaviness in this area.
Overall, a great first run!

That is funny!
Caustics through glass are actually fairly light. It?s always interesting what people believe to be correct vs. what is. Of course it?s an impressionist piece, so creative license!
You did a great job!

I?m still mulling it over, lol. I?ll leave it for a few days and then take another look. Sometimes I overwork a piece.
