Excellent capture of this flower that I have not had in my gardens. I wonder if the artichoke comes from the edible root ...? Such interesting notes, Deb...as usual. I soak up each word and then go back and read them again. You have done a wonderful job capturing the somewhat raggedy look of this flower. And your framing is perfect. the initial impact for me is the center of the front flower. But my favorite part is the lower flowers peering from behind their 'parent'!! I like the narrow border. You use those with finesse and they do complete your composition nicely. Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing!

The petals are really tissue-paper thin Becky and raggedy and while I do think this flower looks best from a distance that up close raggedy look is part of this blossom's charm I think. I LOVE that you enjoy my notes....thank you again for always commenting on them. It really makes my day when you do. As for my narrow borders....I always say it's like a period at the end of a sentence....sort of finishes the piece off and they look positively naked to me w/o one. So thank you for checking these guys out and for an always thorough and delightful review!

I cannot believe the size of these beauties, as im sure when they are in full bloom
they produce a magnificent background. Wonderful yellow color and beautiful interior that reminds me of a sunflower. I really don't think I have seen this flower before but I bet it is stunning in your garden. It looks like it may have rained the day before from the petals, but I think it brought out alot of detail in them.
Great work Deborah!

The petals themselves are almost like tissue paper Marsha.....very thin and crinkly. One of the very few blossoms in my gardens that actually looks better from a distance.....but everyone in my gardens gets their close up shot regardless...lol Thank you so much for having a look at this one. I do appreciate the wonderful review too.

LOL Well hello there Catmal! Boy is it nice to see you again. Have you been painting??? Just not posting so much?? I'll have to have a look at your page and see what you've been up to. Laughed like hell at your "I'm a gardener now" comment. Wish I could be a painter just by looking at your work...lol Anyway, I am just delighted to see YOU at the end of this review and I soooo appreciate you sharing a gold star w/ this piece. Seriously, thank you.

Impressive capture!
Vibrant capture of these Sharply focused shrinking petals & soft core textures.
Excellent choice of subject in Diminishing perspective.
Vanishing viewpoint creates great depth...
Compact framing.
Bright lighting.
Dark backdrop pops out the blooms prominently.
Thanks for sharing...

Almost impossible to photograph a single blossom here Dick as they grow in little clusters atop a single, very tall stalk.....but I also liked the 'group photo' opportunity they presented. Thank you for having a look and do appreciate the thorough review you've given them.

Remind me of sunflowers with the large bloom and bright as sunshine flower which you have captured nicely against the black background. Great focus, color and lighting. :) Mary

They ARE very tall Mary...like Sunflowers but actually (and surprisingly) part of the Daisy family. Go figure huh!? lol Always happy to find you at the end of a review and thank you for checking out this guy. I do appreciate it.

Pretty tall! Nice color; is it one flower or a reflection? Either way it's nice; good black backing to make them pop out; nice focus and size; the center looks a bit like a honey comb to me LOL; do see a bit of green on the far left image. Creative pic! Take care.

Nope Swimmer....those are all blossoms growing at the top of a single, very tall stalk...and I really like the center too. You're the only one to mention it so good eye there! Thank you so much for having a look at this one and you are just a sweetheart for giving it such a wonderful rating. I do really appreciate that swimmer. Thank you again. Made my afternoon.

Deborah,
A beautiful picture of these golden coloured Helinathus bathed in sunshine with other flowers hiding behind the larger one. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
Jersulam artichoke, reminds me of School dinners. & Tasted of earth... Not my favourite.

No, not my favorite tasty treat either Susan...lol....I prefer now to let them grow and blossom w/o digging up the tubers to eat. Thank you for the interesting and lovely review. I do really appreciate it.

A beautiful shot of this wonderful but past it's best 'Jerusalem Artichoke', a flower I have never seen before, but I can see the resemblance totally from the interesting narrative you have included , thank you have enlightened me! lol. great clarity really showing the yellow boldly and brightly and contrasting perfectly with the dark background and the other flowers hiding in the background. Great piece, well done :) Oh and yeah it is funny about the names of plants sometimes that turn out to have no relevance to the plant!! There's a mushroom called "Cake and Custard" or something similar because of the colourings - it's actually toxic however. If you didn't have your wits about you you'd end up losing a kidney eating them!

They look gorgeous from a distance Ed....only up close do they look a tad ratty. But that's OK since they grow at the back of a number of my garden beds. You know I have tried to find out for years now how they were given the common name 'Jerusalem Artichoke'.....no luck yet...lol Anyway, do appreciate you having a look and thank you Ed for the fine review....and kind comments re: my notes. (oh and I stay away from wild mushrooms...lol I'd lose more than a kidney I'm afraid if I didn't)

These Helianthus must be stunning in your garden....their size alone and you have captured them beautifully. Your dark background makes your flowers stand out beautifully. Your lighting, focus, clarity and contrast are excellent. A good perspective and perfectly framed image. So enjoyed reading your artists notes....I should try this flower. This is very nice work and thanks for sharing.

It is strong and hardy Mary Lynn.....they NEVER fall over...despite the large blossom and very tall stem. They make a beautiful backdrop for any garden bed.....the color is just stunning. Thank you so much for checking out my new piece and giving it such a lovely review. I do really appreciate it.
