a great capture of the cormorant drying its wings
apparently they have less preen oil than other birds
so there feathers can get soaked rather than shedding water like a ducks, I like the natural
surroundings showing the cormorant on the rocks, good clarity, well framed. good luck in the contest.

Hi Jo, It's funny that for a diving bird the cormorant has little preening oil. If any bird should have enough oil for that it should be this one. LOL Thanks for the wonderful review it is much appreciated! :o) Helvi

Helvi, this has a glorious feel of an oil painting. The colours are natural and you caught the bird not posing but doing something birdlike (maybe he was posing LOL)!

I really like how you have come down low and composed him into that all important grid point that we talk about in photography rules...it works to give a strong image.

There is not a thing I would change about this photo. You have great marginal space all around giving the little cormorant room to move and space for us viewers to breathe easily.
