Now I don't believe I've seen the first in this series Carl- may have to go have a look but for now commenting on this one. Really enjoyed your notes btw and this is, of course, just a perfect entrant for this contest.
I think the skin tone and coloring is absolutely spot on. I don't paint- at least not anything this complicated but whatever you did or did not do regarding pastel underpainting your skin tones here are just beautiful. As is your model...especially that exquisite face....it's stunning. Also I look at the hands and feet- things I think even more difficult to draw and yours look just about perfect. Really well done and exact.
Musculature also spot on....so..form, shape, color and tone just beautiful Carl and background colors as well give your model a truly life-like appearance. Now I KNOW I have never given a nude piece a gold star before but your piece here is so well done and quite classy that I think I must. Lovely work. I hope it does really well for you in the contest.

I appreciate the time and thoughts you gave in your critique of this piece and it pleases me that this work cracked your shell of resistance about voting for a nude painting. The first paragraph in my long notes on the Eternal Beauty painting really establishes the reason and perceptions of why I decided to do this type of painting. It is really pleasing to me that it appears I have hit the right cord with viewers.

I have not been resistant, so to speak re: giving a nude a gold star Carl just think this may be the first time I liked one enough. It's a really a lovely piece. Well deserving of my praise so you are very welcome!

I really like this painting. The womans skin looks so silky smooth. Nice skin tones and highlights. I like how the hair lays on the floor looks so natural and real the white contrast nicely with the warmth of the brown 5ones of the floor. Great work

The lady indeed has a lovely skin coloring and quality. Bravo. I find that her left buttock appears too flat, particularly as, judging from her back under he shoulder, she is well provided with roundness. I think it is a question of lighting and shadows.

Thank you for your four and one half stars vote and your comments. To set the record straight, your critique is more about the model than it is the shading. I understand. We all have an idealized perception of perfection that colors our judgement. Mine is to present the models as real as possible as an honor to their posing efforts. But, really, thanks for your time and thoughts in your critique.

No offense intended. It WAS a comment about how the shading made her buttock look flat, as stated I felt it was a question of light and shadow.

A fantastic non erotic nude piece here, that clearly from the quality of the work and your narrative you have put a lot of time and effort into, which has paid off well. The form and figure of the model is superbly accurate, as are the proportions of her body and the curves and shapes, down to the finest detail - excellent intricate and accurate work on the face and her expression, giving her real individuality and personality. The colours used are perfect and the delicate shading and change of tone is sublime, almost photographic, in both her body and hair. The dark background of brown fading to grey/black accentuates his piece even further - a very well composed work of art and one to be proud of, well done :)
