Hi shadow catcher what a fine photo you have produced of this awesome luna moth. excellent exposure and lighting and so much clarity in your picture. The fine details on the moth's wings and body stand out beautifully against the bark background. You have captured the moth's marking perfectly in balance and the texture in the bark is most effective as a contrast to his soft smooth appearance. The black and white effect is most successful in displaying your subject. He stands out well and my eyes are drawn right into the picture. Best of luck in the contest. great job and a joy to review. cheers mel

I like both sets of eyes on this. The set on the wings and the pair on the head. You have sharp clear focus on this one. This is a good entry for this contest. It would also be a good entry for the insect contest. Nice composition. Well framed. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with this image

I am surprised at how nice this looks in black and white! I like the amount of grey tones throughout and that the antennae can still be seen well. The bark look great too. All the patterns and texture there are interesting to study.

Thanks so very much-this is a luna moth, often referred to as a moon moth,a large silk moth. These are pale silvery green in color.

A beautiful picture of the large exotic Luna Moth on the rough bark of the Pine tree which makes the perfect backdrop to show the delicate beauty of the Moth. Artistic diagonal composition framing & soft natural lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Very good entry for the contest. Lovely close up of the Luna moth on the pine bark. I love all the different patterns shown here in the bark and the moth's wings. The use of black and white emphasizes this. Very good lighting and focus. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

I like the effects of the B&W in this image, the moth stands away from the tree bark and the details are easily seen, it's well focused, well exposed, good tonal variations. I like the position of the subject in frame. Well composed , interesting to view!
