This was a nice choice for black and white. I think including the unopened buds inside the frame was a nice touch and adds an element of contrast with the darker tones. The lines in the petals stand out well and accentuate the texture nicely.

Intriguing image that captures the beauty and textures of this plant. The angle from which this is taken is different and unusual which give the viewer a new way to see the beauty of the plant. The black and white takes advantage of the plant structure and therefore does not depend on the colors. Very nice composition.

Excellent entry for the contest. I love what you've done with this close-up of the lovely flower, showing the transparency of its petals and I like the angle you used for this, looking up from under the petals. The use of black and white adds impact. Lovely composition. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

Such a gentle and subdued impact this piece displays.

Contrast is eye catching.

Diagonal framing is appealing and lends a balance to the take.

On the technical side your post processing is not excessive. Even in Monotone the plant has a life like appearance.

A good entry for this contest ... B-)) Bob

This is a magnificent entry for this contest! Wow!! Capturing that light through the petals of what appears to be a Dogwood blossom is ingenious and a complete success! The grey scale in those petals is beautiful. Your stems are moving diagonally through your frame and bringing in those two unopened buds to create a very artistic frame. The whites are controlled as well. Beautiful work and best of luck in the contest! Excellent!

This photograph of this bloom is just stunning. I simply love the transparency shown by the excellent lighting. Perfectly titled. The detail and softness of the petals is excellent and I love the flowing movement of this flower. Very artistic with a beautiful presentation. I would love to see this bloom in color or know what color it originally
Was. It's just gorgeous.
Best of luck in the competition.

I wondered why someone would create a black and white contest for flowers. This must be the reason. A beautiful image with nice texture in the petals and a delicate soft look that should make this a strong contender. Best of luck in the voting.
