Enjoy the gold colors much different from the cold greys and blues. Nice contrast between the golds and the cold whites and light greys. Reasons for my five star vote.

That distinctive glow for the sky does add a nice contrast in what would be an ordinary shot,think its not as strong Pat as your other winter photo which had a good crispness to it...Brian

Hi alaskapat, thanks for sharing this beautiful photo of the frozen pond in Earthquake Park.. brrrrr yes, it looks pretty freezing here,
but that definitely doesn't take away from the beauty. Check out that golden sunset sitting part the way up the foliage on those snow covered trees. That looks amazing. It's almost as if someone came along and painted the tree tops.. Excellent angle used to capture the scene. . it gives the photo great depth of field as I look down the frozen lake as it meanders around the trees.. The little shrub in the foreground front left side, is a nice addition .. adds good balance to the photo.. The golden glow of the sky is stunning .. and is reflected nicely onto the pond's frozen surface .. The little track in the ice adds a spot of intrigue.. All this ice and snow.. makes for a most interesting and unusual display for someone who lives in a place where snow never occurs. Love it. thanks for sharing .. your work is always a great pleasure to peruse and review.. until next time, cheers mel

This is one of the finest winter scenes I have ever seen, hands down, no kidden, pinky swear!
First of all the lighting - it is to die for. This great side lighting is magical, majestic, mystical and mind blowing all at once.
The contrast in lighting between the high reflectivity of the trees on the left versus the contrasting trees on the right.
The foot prints give it a human touch.
Excellent camera technique.
Color range is narrow but visual color range of this piece shows color balance through out - colors remind me of a creamscicle.
Extremely deep DOF.
I like the little bit of shrubbery in the immediate foreground, gives a nice port of entry into the dreamy landscape.
This is a really good landscape, it has all the right elements laid out expertly ... B-)) Bob

Wow, the glowing color of the sunset is amazing. It looks almost other worldly and casts a dark almost greenish color onto the frozen pond. I like the way the trees looks so lacy with the snow covered branches.
