Nice capture. The focus and details are spot on. The colors are wonderful. DOF works very well to frame her at mid-range and just provide a soft background in the distant range. While I normally do not like such centered pictures I think it works here because the branch framing moves her off center. Well seen and well shot!

Beautiful capture of a beautiful bird, Barbara. I love the center placement of the bird in the shot. The soft blurred background is the perfect canvas to present him on. Your focus and detail is spot on. Just a really lovely shot that is a joy to view. Thanks so much for sharing.

Cardinal season is certainly in full swing at the moment where you are and what comes with that is the (often quite bitter) cold - as proven in the instinctive nature of these little avian rascals as they fluff themselves up to conserve heat and stay warm, a great gift from mother nature (she shared it with a lot of other animals too lol, but not us). The clarity is sharp and detailed, and the natural lighting aided by the bright white of the snow surrounding the bird works well and in bringing out the features even more predominantly with the short DOF showing the blurred tree branches and berries and bright white snow beyond. The textures and colours are excellent throughout the Cardinal, with it's mainly grey down and feathers with red interspersed nicely and giving it that trademark look, particularly the beak, and the funny little black beard and over the nose moustache I always enjoy. The textures are clear and well defined, and the neat central cropping makes for a wonderful piece all round - great work, well done :)
