Great contest entry with this little guy. His bright red tail catches your eye and leads your eye to him as you check him out. He is standing so still and stiff. Love the framing and good details you have captured. Good luck in the contest.

he is saying.."got nuts?"..well were i grew up in my neck of the woods the make great gravy..pour it over rice..hmmm..one time i was on a business trip with a friend to DC..we walked the trail from the monument around that great man made pond and we saw squirrels the size of small dogs..my buddy said to me "lord have mercy one of them can fill a pan. i didnt they get so big here in DC." i smiled at him and replied.."they are big cause no one eats em up here." wink..this is a cute fat lil squirrel. the angle of the shot is great. the clarity is great. the capture of the light is great. the image is balanced and eye appealing to the viewer. good eye and great job overall.

A beautiful picture of this little American Red Squirrel enjoying the seeds that have fallen from the Bird feeder above onto the snow carpeting the ground. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

Very good entry for the contest. Most of our squirrels in the UK are grey ones which have overtaken the red ones so this is a real treat to see this little red one catching the bird seed. He looks very well fed! Very good lighting and focus showing a nice crisp image. I love the pose you caught as if he's waiting for you to say something because he's pinching the bird seed! Great composition. Good luck in the contest. Suzanne

Nice shot, adorable expression, that's one happy guy with enough food to last him a while . Nice detail and focus in the fur as well as in the snow surrounding him. Hope he comes back to pay you more visits and you'll be able to get some more shots.

A great shot of this red squirrel, very good details and textures and colors, glad to see a red squirrel, I have posted images of fox squirrels that every one keeps say are red squirrels, I noticed in your notes you didn't say anything about a black squirrel, I have seen 2 in my back yard I have been trying to get a picture of, your red squirrel is great, a pleasure to look at, thank you for sharing, dale

Thanks Dale. The black and the white squirrels are part of the grey squirrel family. I see some black ones now and then but have yet to get a good shot of them! I did post a white squirrel not too long ago. I guess I think they are all cute :)
