Good sharp focus on the just starting lotus bud. Just a hint of the color that will come out and good detail. I like the slight angle in the stem and bud. Background is a bit dark but does frame the bud well. Well seen.

Hi and thanks for sharing this stunning pink lotus bud with its perfectly formed outer casing ... all ready to explode into full blown beauty sometime soon. The Tightly closed outer petals show their promise of something special, allowing me to have a glimpse of their pinkish green hues at this stage of their growth. The photo has excellent exposure and the lighting is perfect , exposing the very fine veins that run vertically up through the petal sheaths .. This lone bud is neatly pointing towards the sun, awaiting the right moment to unfold.. I like the inclusion of its slender stem and the slightly visible calyx which supports the bud.. It adds good contrasting lines and texture to the scene. The use of the dark background works nicely and the slightly blurred effect of the green shadowing in the top of the photo gives a feeling of depth to the picture. The interesting whitish shapes in the foreground provide nice contrast to the darkness and helps balance the scene perfectly. The bud allows me to imagine there is promise of more beauty soon to appear as it sits proudly all alone , and popping out of the background well.

Beautiful...simple and yet detailed. There are only so many parts to a flower that can be captured in a macro and still be interesting without being confusing. You have created a work of art here with a simple bud of a flower that will open into many, many exciting colors and details. I love this.. best of luck in the contest!
