Congratulations on this one! I like the creativity and that your wife thinks you are a nut :) The background looks wonderful with the variations of blues and the shine on the water. The angle with the extended view works nicely.

Ok..this is thinking out of the box...or out of the tree...or bag...or orchard...LOL! I love it! This is a perfect entry for this contest! And WOW on the success of the capture! It is truly pamphlet worthy. Your light and shadows, your colors and the sense of movement put me right there with you and your wife and your pet orange. It made me think of the pet rocks...remember those?
And of course your sense of a vantage point vs the horizon is not an accident...you are an engineer behind that camera! And your plan of where each strata of sky, clouds, horizon and railing fell in this composition is a photography class lesson in itself! Plan your background! PLUS you have placed your orange over a vertical line in the railing..making it appear to be a newel post finial of sorts! Absolutely love it! Best of luck!

Thanks for the glowing review. It seems like an architectural background helped with this study! I liked the contrast with the rigid geometric shapes of the railing with the round orange. What was not said, the orange WAS having fun until it became a mid day snack. Oh well......

I really like your poster Allan, and the bit of humor you have put into it. To photograph an orange like this is something I could have done too, and my husbands reaction would be very much like your wife's. LOL
You have used a pin sharp photo for your poster and it is well exposed. I also think the added text has got a fine placement.
With the nice leading lines and the placement of the text, it is a very good balance in the composition. I think this is a well taken photo, and a great poster, and I wish you luck with the contest.
