I have only seen a Raven once years ago. They are indeed smart birds as are the Grackles and crows.
What an amazing find to witness and to capture.
Great job on the all black coloring and fine POSE of him in the dead Birch tree.

marvelous subject and your notes are spot on. I wonder if he realizes that he is the star of every suspense movie, death poster, macabre situation.... And he is shining in glory. That is one big bird. Sitting in the perfect location. Love your story notes. Great capture.

Good sharply focused image. The collar or ruff gives it a very interesting look, almost regal. The composition is nice, like him framed by the 2 trunks. good lighting . The background sets it off well. Nicely shot.

A very fine shot that shows good detail in the black plumage and manages to show the eye as well. I might prefer a profile view but this one is excellent with great colors.

Nice info notes!
Maybe they are preserved by the salinity of the water!

Well, this is a pin sharp focused capture of a very smart looking bird!
Are they related to the crow?!?

Superb clarity of facial details, features and textures.
The ghost tree trunks framed him well aesthetically.

Bright lighting.
Controlled illumination with no blown out spots.

Nice perspective & narrow DOF.

Thanks for sharing...

Thank you very much! They are in the same family Corvidae, but two different species, the Raven is much larger then the crow, we don?t Have crows here in Anchorage, but we have them south of here. I always appreciate your reviews and great comments!

Pat,
A beautiful picture of this Alaskan Raven perched in the Ghost trees watching your every move ever hopeful you will give in & give it a treat. Beautiful composition framing & lighting that shows off it's glossy black plumage & shiny dagger like beak to best advantage. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.
Made me think of the Poor Ravens guarding the Tower of London who would just adore Alaska, had they the chance to escape there from cold damp winters of London & the confines of the Tower of London built by William the Conquer...
