This is a perfect setting for your illustration mode.. Perfect! The flat walkway beneath the 'illustrated' green leaves vs the arches supporting those same green leaves is an amazing use of this in camera creative editing. I love it! I wish I had a six..

Your framing is completely perfect...making me feel as if I could walk right into this scene and beneath that arch and further into a place in my imagination... Just as you describe...it just takes me away. The shadows and light have come through with a completely natural sense...which seems unique. But it shows that your illustration mode does only edit the details of the subjects...and not the light and shadows....yes? Because the thumbnail print looks completely natural..with the light and shadows beautifully done. And can you select the opacity of your illustration mode?

When you captured this in that setting did you expect it to turn out so successfully? How fun it would be to shoot together! Thanks for sharing! Best of luck in the contest!

Hmmm, I responded to your review a couple hours ago and here it is back again. I must have messed up the sent action.

This illustration mode reminds me of your brushwork in post processing, but much easier!! It is fun to use this mode from time to time as it always is interesting to see the results. Indeed, it does not seem to change the exposure of the original image. One can adjust the amount of illustration, more or less. It seems to look better before it is zoomed in, as in this thumbnail vs. full size. The opacity stays the same, but it can be changed later in PS.

We could learn a lot from each other if we did a photo shoot. Networking is a great educational experience!!!

Our ARB group is doing a night shoot in downtown Minneapolis tonight. That should be fun.....if the rain holds off.
We are expected to get 5-10 inches AGAIN this weekend. Uncle!!!

I can see why you go there. I love the techniques you used in creating this image. The softly filtered light and the variations in the foliage canopy create a tranquil and serene place where one can almost smell the pollution free air.
