I like this photo very much; the detail and clarity are excellent, and you have created a great impact for the viewer by changing to black and white.
great job!

a great capture of this creepy dirty alley with a backdoor open; excellent conversion into b&w with sharp focus;
why not indicate the location ?

Black & White is just so darn evocative. Nothing in conventional photography even comes close to setting a mood better than B&W, this capture stands in testament to that statement.

I look at this and I can hear the distant almost nonexistent echos of commerce and capitalism that were done and agreed to here in this alley. Now just a hollow and crumbling shell of a reminder of what once was.

To bring home the flavor and crustiness of this scene, high resolution and short scale contrast is the order of the day. This take is well focused with a high degree of detail and resolution.

Just a thought - have you tried changing the settings in your camera to B&W? The kicker - remember to switch back after shooting.

this is a fine entry for this contest ... B-)) Bob

    Thank you. No, I haven't tried using the settings in the camera. I usually just use a topaz filter I have to remove all of the coolest and just leaving the black and white.

This is an amazing shot!! I really feel like I'm walking in a creepy alley. In a way it looks old, I like the B&W effect. Very cool. It feels lonely, but it looks awesome. You have made a piece of art that is pleasing to look at. Thank you for sharing!! I really enjoyed looking at it. Good luck in the contest!! :D
