Hi Envision,
What a beautiful shot! LOve the black satin water. It's incredibly smooth. THat water really makes the Grebes movements noticeable. The lighting shows off the Grebe beautifully even though his colors are dark. Lovely placement of the Grebe I the photo too. All in All a beautiful job and very worthy of a six star rating!

Thank you Amy!! It was so fun to see this one. I also saw some horned grebes that have the same kind of eyes. Thank you for the generous six stars :)

Excellent artist notes, interesting and informative.
The lighting for this fine capture is simply delicious. The light is so soft and evenly diffused across the back and side of the bird.
Great reflection in a near mirror pond.
Top of the line camera technique seen. All details of the birds head and especially the eye are well focused and sharp.
This is an exceptionally good capture. The framing shows a good eye for framing and timing.
The colors of the bird contrast nicely with the mirror water.
Thanks for sharing ... B-)) Bob

Thanks Dale! Yes I have seen them eat small fish. It's pretty cool to watch, as long as you don't feel too sorry for the fish!

I got a picture of one eating a fish, it was a little to big for the grebe just to swallow,

Stunning shot, Gracie! The focus on the gorgeous red eye and the feathers on his face are just spectacular. Your shutter speed was perfect to capture the water droplets and the movement of the water. And...you have a reflection to top it all of. Just a really stunning shot that is a joy to view. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! You flatter me with your kindness and generosity. This was the first time I have seen one of these guys, it was pretty exciting and those red eyes are something else! I've seen a lot of new birds this year and five or six of them have red eyes.
