You do an outstanding job with skin tones. I think this is where your talent pinnacles. Your shading and attention to light is breathtaking. I think you achieved the appearance of intense concentration along with a feeling of comfort and trust between the mother and daughter. The girl looks a little older than preschool, but that doesn't matter at all :) I like the colors you used in her hair too and the fabric of their clothing is realistic. The background colors and texture harmonize well.

Mother and child are the prefect choice for any painting this one included. The features of the people are very clear as is the intensity of the eyes. They are both concentrating, and that is obvious. The artist captured exactly what was intended. Extremely well painted.

Hi Carl thank you for sharing this truly awesome painting of mother and daughter and those very endearing and touching notes to accompany your work. You have certainly achieved exactly what you had hoped for Carl. I love the wonderful detail used to render their facial features. the brush strokes are fine and beautifully detailed The mothers eyes are full of emotion and the concentration of looking at the computer screen really shows well. You have the perfect shading and highlighting of skin tones to create that intensity throughout her face.. the brow positioning, just slightly raised as she peers into the screen before her. Excellent shading around her nose and cheek bones and her mouth lightly pursed is beautifully rendered with the finest brush detail.. even the dimple in her chin is evident in your well blended skin tones. great highlighting in both her eyes and lips. the eyes sparkle and the lips appear moist .. Her hair is well blended with the occasional highlights which offer great textural value and thickness to her neatly tied hair style. I can see her shoulder and forearm are nicely toned and well tanned.. a nice touch of green in her apparel, offers good contrasting hue against her lovely skin tones. The daughter is neatly nestled into her other shoulder as she too stares intently at the screen in front of them. The little girl's face is beautifully rendered .. the detail is superb showing her eyes fixed on the screen as are her mother's. Her little mouth shows her concentration is at its peak... and has good reflective highlights to give the lips that moist full effect.. Love the lights and shadows used to define her features. and indeed I can truly see the resemblance between mother and daughter that reflects in their facial features. fabulous work Carl in achieving that also. Her hair borders her face nicely as it hangs loosely down her shoulders. her fringe is slightly ruffled in appearance giving her a youthful and relaxed emotion. Love the brush strokes used to render her hair. the darker hues and occasional highlights give it fabulous textural value and makes her long locks look thick and healthy. Excellent use of shading and lighting on her neck.. showing their indentation around the shoulder blades nicely. Her tee shirt is nicely blended in the blue hues.. with the darker brush strokes giving it the effect of folds in the material . a great inclusion adding to the life like appearance of the child. Her arm is nicely aligned with that of her mothers. showing that she is trying her best to follow the action of her mothers tutoring.. Wonderful choice of background hues. the yellowish tone blended into the deeper orange red hue gives the picture added warmth and richness.. a nice addition that compliments the mother and child perfectly. Such a fantastic work of art Carl. I am truly impressed by the emotion you have shown on their faces.. it honesty depicts just exactly what your notes have expressed .. and the similarity in their facial features shows great family resemblance .. Congratulations on this awesome achievement Carl. I love how you capture this tender moment between Mother and daughter and how with your choice of color put the attention on their faces. The initial impact for me are the eyes....and your play with light and shadows and contrast capturing their individual characters and the essences of them. So much beauty in your brush strokes and blending and shading with color. The facial expression are good but it that shading of skin tones makes this so realistic.
