Well, now that you did this, it is time for a late season blizzard. Ok. If that happens, you have permission to take me behind the woodshed and beat the crap out of me. Bet you are so happy it is finally gone.
Nice image. Love the greens. Well taken. Thanks for sharing.

Oh Paul the winter was llonggggggg....the mud lasted for-EVER and you are so right. I could not be happier to see the grass finally starting to turn green and all the little flowers just starting to poke through in all the beds. I am a very happy woman right now BUT I would put up w/ one more very quick little blizzard just to take you out behind the woodshed.....LOL Thank you for the offer dear friend...and the lovely review too.

A visually appealing mound.
This is a landscapers' haven.
I can do so many things with that natural topography.
The rustic stones are great bonus!
The borrowed landscape accentuates nicely & in great harmony with the foreground concept.
Good perspective & long depth of field...
Thanks for sharing...

The 'rustic stones' were a lot of work Dick. Took me two years to dig them and lug them from all corners of my property to make the garden beds ....but I love the look. Thank you for having a look at this piece. Do appreciate the fine review you've given it too.

Comment from Robert Davis
Very nice composition and border. It is a little dark and flat and has some vignetting. The sky is bland. So if you are into a little more adventure I suggest increasing exposure and contrast to make the picture pop, decrease the vignette and create some clouds.

I do not 'create' clouds Robert. If there are none in the sky I'm fine w/ that. It was a rather dark and dreary day when I took this photo and that's exactly how I wanted to show it. Some days just don't 'pop' .....photos either.... and there are times when not popping is more appropriate. Appreciate your suggestions though and sorry you missed the meaning of my image.

This is a teaser photo, I can't wait to see it later when things are in bloom. You have captured this moment well. Overcast and damp but full of color with just a bit of a haze. Good detail. Nicely seen.

Hi Deb, and let me say, halleluiah the snow and mud are gone .. you must be feeling so much happier to be on the brighter side of the seasons once again. Seems you have not been on the site for a while so hope all is well on the homefront.
Such a lovely stretch of garden seen in your photo. Your Poeny sloping bed.. I can see there has been lots of work gone into collecting all your bush rock to create the borders. what a delightful bunch of earthy tones seen in the rocks. they make a joyous frame for your Poeny flowers to show their welcoming blooms. The lovely splash of green grass on the hillside must be a joy to see and walk on after ploughing through the recent mud.. Love the stately birch tree taking centre stage. Its flowing branches will no doubt soon be bursting with life. They have such gorgeous bark trunks.. and the cluster of pines behind them make a great backdrop to the scene on the downward slope that takes my eye into the background of your scene. stunning countryside Deb. those pines and additional birch trees seem to stretch on forever giving great depth of field to your photo. I'm intrigued.. after the snow clears do you have to do any pruning of dead and decayed foliage or is this exactly what you see once the snow has gone. Never having lived in snow country, I am a bit naïve as to the damage it causes in the garden, but I know exactly what bad frost does.. from personal experience..
There is a lovely refreshing feeling coming from within your photo. Although you said it was an overcast day, the photo has good light and excellent exposure.. and I love the angle used to capture the Peony bed.. because I also get to see that lovely distant mountain behind your pines in the far distance.. a beautiful landscape shot that makes me want to put on my shoes and go for a great walk in amongst your gardens.. .. thanks for sharing your snowless, mudless spring growth. an absolute joy to review .. sending happy smiles , mel

awwww..you are so sweet dear Mel. Yes, April was a bit of a nightmare here. I am going to forget it even existed in 2018. But you're right. Life is so much brighter w/ no snow and no more mud and all my garden beds showing new growth. You're also correct about everything needing a good clean up when spring comes. No matter how well I've cleaned the beds in the fall the snow melts and I find all kinds of junk lol ....branches etc scattered about. So spring cleaning ALL the beds is my first job....and I'm almost done. Thank you so much for another wonderfully insightful review.....and GOOD questions....and especially for feeling my joy!

I like the coolness of this scene and the dampness. It looks like a nice path to walk now. I cannot wait for you to document the stages of their growth and I am as eager as you to see the beautiful blossoms.

Good idea of planting and planning so you always have a garden; great looking countryside; love the great colors; the sky contrasts with the Earth nicely; I like the trees fading off to the right; neat borders!; the tall green trees really pop out and shine; good depth feeling; looks like a beautiful area. Hope you're loving the "new" nice weather. Take care.

Peonies
The strange pink colour of Chinese porcelain;
Wonderful - it is the pale blue larkspur
Which swings wildily against my heart .
Other Summers -
And the cricket chirping in the grass .

That is just beautiful John. Thank you so much for taking the time to share Amy's words. I love this review. Only thing I would change is 'cricket' to 'peepers' Do you know what they are??? Baby tadpoles and they show up by the thousands every spring just about this time just a few yards from my home. I have been standing on the front steps the last few evenings listening for them (that's when they are the loudest) and I finally heard them last night. Google the sound.....it is THE best thing I hear every spring......and thank you for giving this piece a gold star. You are a doll- seriously.
