Hi Jack thank you for sharing this outstanding capture of the butterfly, happily going about his day. What a fabulous angle you have used to really show off his amazing flurry of design .. exquisite shot. Only nature could come up with such an intricate pattern of art on such a small and delicate specimen. There is so much variety in his wings.. wavy dark hues, parallel fine lines a lovely border of brown earthy tones and the collection of small circular shapes that form a fringed effect on the end of each wing.. stunning.. what is just as captivating is the underside of his wings. There appears to be an array mixed colours from blue through to reddish / yellow hues on the fringe of those wings. the creamy background contrasts wonderfully well with those dark markings.. I love the excellent focus on his interesting body shape. those fine legs must be quite strong to support his body and wings, yet appear so very fragile. Love the position of his antennae.. He looks well focused on the task at hand. The bouquet of bright pink flowers is a striking contrast to your butterfly portrait. Their richness brings a happy emotion into the scene and really makes him pop. I like the blurred effect on the left of the picture and at the top.. It serves well to add a nice touch of colour without distracting from the butterfly who takes centre stage.. The addition of the green foliage is a nice inclusion and compliments both the blooms and the butterfly.. Such a well balanced picture that has crisp and sharp focus.. The scene has a rather tranquil emotion coming from within and has been a true joy to review. thanks for sharing. cheers mel I hope you find many more flying about in your garden.

This is indeed a photo with strong visual impact because of the strong colors of the flowers, and with the nicely softened background the butterfly is standing out in an excellent way.
Your photo is also nice and sharp showing such clear and well defined details both in the wings and the body of the butterfly, and the exposure is very good.
The cropping has worked well and the butterfly has got a fine placement within the frame. I think this is a truly lovely and well taken photo Jack, and with an excellent DOF.

A fine looking Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. The shot is very nicely framed and detail in the butterfly is very good. I like the color of those flowers and think they look great in the background.

I love butterflies! Such a wonderful photo and great work on blurry the background just enough to keep the color as its leading to the flower he sits upon. Great focus and sharpness as I can see every detail on him! Fantastic work!!

Absolutely wonderful color in this image - vibrant and rich, capturing me perfectly. I do however have to keep 1/2 star on the focus - ever so slight on the blur but when you offer a close up... I'm hoping for focus fabulous! I really enjoy the strength in the vibrancy of light in this image as well. Wonderful image. Thanks for sharing!
