Gorgeous photo. Nice capture of an awesome looking bird even though he is ugly to me at least. I love the contrast of the bird to the background. In the detail of his wings and feathers you captured very intricately with this shot. Nice focus on subject. Good composition. All together picture is spot-on thank you for sharing this with us.

Wish I had a six left, Eileen. This is just so strikingly beautiful. Perfect eye focus, natural color, and exquisite detail make it a standout. Nice work on the background too. Audubon quality for sure.

He looks like his name should be Einstein with his crazy looking hairdo. Love how you got a crisp sharp focus where you can see his warts and whatever is growing on his beak. He is framed perfectly in the photo and the dark leafy background makes him stand out even more. Nice lighting, exposure, composition and subject.

Wow I've never seen this type of pelican. Looks like a pelican but it has a woody beak. The beak looks like a work of art. Very strange eyes too. Yes it looks like it is telling you not to get any closer.
Very nice.

Great shot. I think he is a mad professor with a hair brained idea. Strong focus so that every detail is visible. The background allows it to really stand out. The eyes are really well seen. Well done!!

Oh man. I can tell by that look in his eye that IF i don't award Him AND You a six he will do something that will leave an ugly mark. I saw these guys on Lake Chapala in Mexico. Truly magnificent birds. I could never get close enough with my funky iPhone to get a shot like this. Well done Eileen ~ Steve

Yes, the are birds with attitude, but its all for the protection of the wife and the kids. You have that impressive bird sharp captured, the details are well defined. He seems to have some mis-build and damage on his beak; probably from a fight. The coloring is fine, the white scale in level. The dark background emphasizes the bird.

that "damage" on his beak is actually a tell tale sign that he is in breeding mode. (sange taught me that :)
Thanks so much for this wonderful review.

Well, Sange surely know about the birds. I know the marks on his upper beak, but that buckle in the middle looked rough, like broken off to me. :o)

Wow! I have never seen or heard of this breed of pelican. He looks like a relative of a shoebill. That woody beak and those steampunk eye adornments make him look unreal. He is quite a unique fellow.
