Great shot! You capture all the detail of his feathers. The tight shot makes this feel like a personal moment for your subject. As you say, the light really makes the shot pop!

Hi there Envision thanks for sharing this beautiful photo of the sleeping Mallard. You have certainly captured him in that delightful position which our feathered friends use when taking a nap. Oh to be that flexible in the neck. The pose is incredibly cute and it shows him at his most vulnerable state. Judging from his sleepy half opened eye, he seems to be aware of you and your mighty camera.. just keeping an eye on you so to speak.. Wonderful colouring in his feathered coat.. the light reflecting on his head truly brings out his incredible rich turquoise glow amid the darker blue wealth of feathers that extend across his forehead and neck.. The excellent exposure and lighting really show his plumage in great detail ... just how beautifully blended those hues truly are. The white band that circles his neck provides that wonderful contrasting tone between his head and lower body feathery coat. the tawny tones on his breast compliment the colour of his beak nicely.. and accentuate his lovely array of head feathers.. I like the use of the dark background. it offers a good mood for the sleeping Mallard.. a great choice to compliment his NAP time. The picture is nicely balanced and has a restful and soothing emotion coming from within. Thank you for sharing this delightful Napping Mallard.. He has been a true joy to review. cheers mel

Really lovely portrait of this guy, Gracie. You captured his colors in the soft light so beautifully. I really like the tight cropped composition although...I'd have loved to see the tip of his beak. Just lovely to view. Thanks for sharing.

This is a super strong photo that hits you with a really good initial impact. The blue tones in the head are amazing. Love the up close framing that puts the bird up close and in your face. Nice lighting that shows a lot of contrast in the bird. Very nice work...so sorry I don't have a 6 to give it because it really does deserve one for being so professional looking.

A very nice shot. I like the tucked in bill and the fine detail in the eye. Fine composition and a great capture of the iridescent plumage on his head.
