This is an interesting photo. I know there are large black bumble bees and some large black and yellow one. But I haven't seen this one before. Good focus, lighting and framing. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful pink flower in great detail.
It doesn't look like a bee, never know. Pretty yellow center. The flower contrast well with the background. Great focus in bright lighting. Well framed. Very nice and thank you for sharing.

This is an interesting insect and I think it looks like a bee. I am not an entomologist so I cannot identify it either, LOL. I like that you captured both the open poppy being pollinated by the insect and the poppy bud. The petals of the poppy seem to be made from crushed tissue paper.

Yikes to whatever it is! It does have bee-like qualities. Nevertheless ... great photo! The darkness of the insect against the light/bright of the beautiful flower is great! Great focus and clarity. Love the new bud off to the side and the blurred background which gives the photo good depth. Beautiful!

Definately looks like a bee to me... but we only see one kind here.

Your shot of him and the flower is indeed a well taken photo Fred.

Your colors are beautiful and your details are seen so clearly here.

Well done

I have seen similar all black insects that I thought were large bumblebees. A fine shot of both the bug and the poppy. Nice colors and sharp detail that should help anyone with some knowledge of entomology make a more positive identification.

Such a beautiful photo, I love seeing nature at work.
The contrast between your lovely pink flower and you bee who seems to be missing some stripes is lovely.
I like how you got that lonely little bud as well.
Nice composition.
Nice depth of field.
Lovely, thank you for sharing.

Fred,
Not being an expert I'm not 100% sure but I do think this is a Carpenter Bee, like the ones I saw in Uszes, buzzing in the Cherry blossom. Beautiful composition framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

A fine shot of nature. I think it is a fat been feating himself ! You have timed it well. The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!

Awesome capture of reflection off bee and perfect timing on wings with the purple fade off wings I just don't care for the focus of flower .
