Very nice capture of a Snowy Egret in a puddle. Your focus, white balance, eye clarity and feather details are all spot on here.
Snowy Egrets feed while standing, walking or doing a sporartic hop.
Since the puddle was formed two hours ago, he was using his bright yellow feet to probe in the soft mud/sand rounding up prey. They usually find small crabs or insects, frogs.
Nice bird Photography Allan and nice to see white balance controlled so well.
Good luck ;)

We captured this guy on our winter stay in Venice this year. If you have been there, it was at the north jetty, in the parking lot after a heavy downpour. I really like these birds. Their yellow feet make me smile each time I see them. Like boots or something, maybe for fashion!!

They were almost hunted to extinction in FL in the when women in Europe thought feathers were fashionable in their hats.

FL again offered us refuge from the cold on MN, but we did get back too early. We still had a month of winter left in March!

Thanks for letting us Snowbirds enjoy part of the year in your state!

Yes... I am sadly aware of the killing of the Snowy and Great Egrets for the sole purpose of making hats. They would actually be in a boat below the rookeries and shoot the adults out of the nest..leaving the young ones to die.
Very sad. I only go to Sanibel when I go to West Coast. But I see Snowy Egrets every day where I Live on East Coast. We only Travel West for the Reddish Egret.
I agree about their feet..I call them Yellow fins!
Happy you found this gorgeous bird.
I was out in Tropical Storm Alberto today for 6 hours with the birds.
    :)

Hold on to your hat though, as Alberto approaches. We went to Sanibel several times. Did not like the charge to cross the bridge though. We leaned about the Sanibel hunch, the tourists looking for shells on the beach, too funny.

We did go to Naples and found that the pier was still closed due to the hurricane last spring. That was bummer as I have fished from their many times.

    Have a good Memorial weekend.

This one brought a sigh...just by the title. Seems that puddle jumping can be shared by many of God's creatures on this earth. Wouldn't it be fun if they were all jumping in the same puddle at the same time! There's a painting for you.....or perhaps for MKFlood. :)

I love this capture.... the unlikely location in a gray puddle instead of a blue green pond or sorts. The 'sandy beach' is a nice contrast in texture and adds a nice diagonal line through your frame.

Your colors are complimentary throughout...actually very in sync with one another. So much so that a strong impact for me was the beauty of the white in the palette of tans, grays, blacks and a bit of mauve. Beautiful. And a perfect entry for this contest.

But the initial impact was the humility of this subject and scene. The milky water and the sand with the bit of black washed up are interesting and strikingly captured in their simplicity and true colors.

The entire scene has come together to show the true beauty of this egret. You have made it so. The whites are balanced. The blacks are showing their leathery reflections on the beak and the legs. And the eye is perfectly focused as well as the sharp clarity of the feathers. Again, A perfect entry for this contest. I wish you the best of luck. Thank you for sharing.

I knew there would be only one FAR member that would get the nuance of this title! 😉

Although good, this egret could not come close to the original PJ, who is just a natural protoge!

Thanks for a super six review of this image and your time, most gracious of you!! Now to read again.

You have captured wonderful detail in the feathers.I like the way you have composed this shot with the background on an angle also the darker area at the back of its head helps to make it stand out. Good natural colors.Great one for this contest.Good Luck.

Nice shot. I am sure it thought there might be a tender morsel available. Well controlled lighting in the shot to keep the whites from exploding. Good sharp focus so that the details could be seen. The background is an effective palette for the picture. Well seen and well presented.
