Excellent portrait done in graphite pencil - you've caught the essence of Obama in this pose. Excellent blending to show highlights and shade and great detail in the face. One of the criteria I use when judging portraits of famous people is.. could I recognize the portrait subject if there was no title to the image. There is no doubt at all that this is an image of Obama. The facial features perfectly proclaim him as the subject. You did an incredible job with this portrait. I'm sure that the lady who requested this portrait is thrilled with it.

Hi there, and thank you for sharing this wonderful gift for your 100 year old friend.. she will be thrilled and delighted.. I recognize your talent and had to check to see in your portfolio.. You truly have the most amazing skills in drawing portraits.. Obama's features are so true to life it blows my mind.. I love the strokes used toe define his head of hair.. the white highlights throughout give it excellent textural value and his hair borders his forehead perfectly.. The shading and the lighter hues used to define his facial features are impeccable . His forehead and brow depict that look of concern and inner strength which he carries always. His thick set eyebrows are nicely rendered and offer a great contrasting tone between his forehead and eyes.. I love the use of shading around his eyes to bring out the expression he has as he focuses upon something in the foreground.. You have offered that intensity that His eyes portray.. and even the curved line running down the side of his forehead adds its own appeal.. showing his depth of emotion at the time.. His nose and mouth are defined with great detail... again, the shading and highlighted sections accentuate his features and the folds running from his nose toward his mouth are brilliantly rendered.. giving his face that emotional appeal that he so often shows .. His mouth and lips are detailed well .. and add to the expression of the man who has wisdom, shows kindness and compassion for all. His jaw line is perfectly rendered and helps to define his neck .. I love the neatness of his shirt collar and tie.. so befitting to his personality.. and you have detailed his jacket beautifully. again, the shading and the lighter hues show the folds in the material nicely .. The background is a great compliment to his portrait. the lighter shadowing highlights his head and shoulders and makes him pop.. an excellent choice that works superbly.. All I can say is this is absolutely extraordinary work.. your skills are outstanding and I truly admire your technique and ability.. Such a wonderful gift that will lift this lady's spirits and keep her on a high for a long long time.
