This is so symbolic of how as little girls we are read fairy tales and made to feel that we are a princess. This depicts the reality that the princess ideal dies...often before adulthood for too many girls and for evil reasons. We discover that we are not special and that the world is a harsh place with very few happily ever afters.

An interesting work. Very good work with the body shapes and their proportions. I would like to know more about the story behind the image to get a better sense of it.

How do you get to read the poem that you illustrated here. I'd love to read it. This is a very imaginative artwork with the princess floating above the homes with a large hand and fingernails. The figures above her are interesting to view with their body positions. The illustration is fascinating.
