Love how you applied heavier stokes on the foliage, but kept butterfly in fragile mode by applying fine strokes with your brush. The softly toned butterfly was beautifully painted with delicate lines. The feathered fringe is perfection. Love the position and angle of your butterfly in this image. Very Nicely Done!
Good Luck in the Contest! :o) Helvi

Nice info notes.
Good painterly feel.
Subdued minimal colors.
Sharply focused.
Fine features & smooth, thin impasto textures.

Why is it called Marine or striped blue?
Are the filaments really those relatively big?!?

Visually, there's something not so pleasing with this composition.
The brown features grab a bit of attention.

Good high vantage point.
Nice vertical framing.

Thanks for sharing...

I appreciate your encouraging and critical comments very much. Thank You. Marine Blue or Striped Blue are common names. Common names are often not explained in available Fieldguides, but you might searche online. The Latin name is "Leptotes mariina" . The plant is Basil, the filaments are this big, about double in lenght than the blossom. The brown parts are seed pots, part of the Basil-plant. The butterfly has brown markings beside the brilliant blue spots on the underside of his wings.

We have Philippine sweet basil but the filament are not that thick! Almost hair-like thin...;-)

My Plant is a cross breed of common Sweet Basil and Thai Basil.

I'm so fascinated on how you do your digital paintings. They look so real! I mean like real paintings. Is it a certain art software? Just curious. You do it so well, it's so life like! Great entry for the contest!! I love how the colors are blended and the brush strokes. The colors go very well and the green is very bright. the butterfly has all the attention. Thank you for sharing, and good luck in the contest!! :D

You did an excellent job of creating the dusty powdery look of the wings. I especially like the feathered edge on the wings. The texture in your background is very appealing.
