This is a nice study of light and shadows. The building facades with their many windows create an architectural perspective that diminishes as it approaches the horizon. The boats and their reflections in the water also repeat that perspective.

This photograph is beautiful converted because it really reminds me of a photograph from long ago. A very unique entry for the competition. I haven't seen many like this one on this site. The structures of everything are very clear and this was taken from a beautiful perspective. Best wishes in the contest.

This actually looks like it was taken ages ago, and you have managed to give the whole scene an old look. I especially like the perspective you have used because it has created such fine leading lines.
I do however think the photo is a bit on the dark side, because the bottom of the photo is quite under exposed and with loss of details. In the rest of the photo is sharp and well defined details.
I also think the photo is nicely cropped , and it is a fine balance in the composition. All together I think this is a well taken and well edited photo, and I wish you luck with the contest.

What? You weren't there 100 years ago? OK. You set yourself up for that one. Had to, Fred.
I really like this image and the conversion works very well. Excellent focus and a great DOF. Best of luck and thank you for sharing.

Interesting. It looks like a postcard from 100 years ago. I have original old postcards with the same sepia tint. The angle of the sot is interesting. We can observe the houses as well as the sidewalk, the boats and the reflection in the water. It says Black and White Contest. Are you sure that sepia is allowed?

An interesting shot this. I do like the black and white (or silvertone..??).
It gives it a very nostalgic read.
The overall image is pretty well shot, but I feel like a bit of cropping may help make it better. The eye keeps getting drawn to the darkness at the end and the solid black in the foreground. However, most of the action and detail is mid-field. I feel like its trying to be too many things a once actually.
The contrast seems a little off as well, but I am not 100% sure why. Perhaps the sky and neutral hues?
I am not a photographer, so I am sure I am not using the right lingo here, but the image does need a little correction.
Tis a nice shot however and reminiscent of 19th century cannery rows throughout the world.

Thank you for this wonderful view a city that is etched in the minds of so many. I love the description that is given regarding Honfleur. To describe the exceptional depth of this photo does not do it justice. You have to take the entire photo in to appreciate the beauty that it presents. Delightful and very educational. Thank you so much for sharing!

Perfect conversion to B&W with exactly the right tone. Beautiful composition at a great angle really showing off the buildings and boat docks. Nice vanishing point too. A wonderful contest entry. Good luck.
